Re: “Good People: worth meeting at the Unicorn

Good point. They don't, do they? Thanks for the correction.

Actually, Margie replies, "How the fuck would I know?" Southies don't mince words.

Re: “Brushing up against the Kansas City Plein Air Coterie

These people do amazing work. Several of them are art teachers or professors themselves but they also welcome beginners. Nice story and congrats to this group on one year of weekly outdoor painting sessions across the city.

Re: “William Inge comes out at the Jewel Box

I remember hearing rumors in the early 1970s (when i first moved to KC) that the city wanted The Jewel Box and all other similar establishments shut down before the 76 Republican National Convention rolled into town.

Re: “Blacktop Sky paved with good intentions

I saw this play Saturday and while I appreciate the acting skills of all involved, I couldn't help but ask, why must we always have the same poor, Black and ghetto scenario. If heartbreak is the theme, we can do that with middle-upper class Blacks and tieir stories. I just kept asking "why" throughout the play. Maybe I should write my own story :)

Re: “Linda Lighton and Taking Aim are suddenly on target

F her and all the bleeding heart a holes who dislike guns. I dislike Abortion, but it's the law and so you can kill a million babies a year and I don't march saying you don't NEED to have sex anymore since some people are using abortion as a means of birth control.

The 2nd amendment guarantees the right of American citizens to keep and bear arms to protect themselves .... from anyone, inclulding their own government. It doesn't specify only guns that some people like, only hunting rifles or anything else.

you want same sex marriage - fine
you want to murder your own babies - fine
you want to take my right to protect myself with the gun of my choice....BANG!

Re: “Ayla Rexroth digs into a new art underground with the Subterranean Gallery

Miss Rexroth is innovative in her curatorial approach and I was happy to see this coverage in the Pitch. Theresa Bembnister did a good job of conveying the experience that is the Subterranean Gallery. This sounds like an excellent blend of an on-line and on the wall exhibition.

The sentence to which you refer is a metaphor.

Re: “The Kansas City Ballet: Carmina Burana

very stupid revue first part was not at all like ice skating and it is ignorant, insensitive and unknowledgable to say so

Re: “At the Kemper, Anthony Lepore’s Restoration puzzles

What a nasty and poorly written bit of writing. The level of inspection feels superficial and even a little philistine, the whole piece marked by an ignorance that refuses nothing but the most cursory gee-whiz glance. It's a bummer this kind of schlock makes it into newspapers, but then again schlock is the norm as opposed to the exception. I'm also glad that the writer chose to go out of their way to kick around a young artist at a sensitive point in their career, another hallmark of their keen sense of responsibility. Blech.

Re: “Belief Is Not Required

Another excellent column, with lots of insight for this Aries to chew on. It's been a challenging Mercury retrograde however I will survive! 20 August Delta touches down at MCI and delivers me back to the Cow Town. Time for a beer and session, my friend.
