Re: “It took the feds to come down on the Wyandotte County sheriff's son

Looks like a bunch of unfounded wild accusations towards the sherif. This is an opinion piece regarding the sherif, I see no shred of evidence he did anything or that mr. Vockrodt said anything but very unprofessional journalistic implications. Shame on you Mr. Vockrodt.

Look at me ... [farts in hand, brings cupped hand to nose, and deeply inhales] I just made a Picasso.

Re: “Instagram, art and the naked ambitions of Carrie Riehl

Carrie has the drive and the inspiration to do any kind of art she chooses. I've seen drawings of hers, from a past era of her artistic development, and they show tremendous skill and wit. She could be any kind of artist she wants to be. She *chooses* to be the type of artist who skewers gender/social conventions, and is working with Emily Kenyon, Hannah Carr, and many other talented artists at The Bohemian to build a Kansas City ecosystem within which other artists can thrive.

Carrie's a natural, attention-grabbing beauty, and clearly she enjoys deconstructing expectations in this context. I suspect this is why includes herself in so much of her artwork. She understands that her image, altered creatively, has the power to enthrall, terrify, and subvert. And ultimately, isn't the artist's job to make you rethink your expectations? To draw you out of your comfort zone? To break your models?

If you chide her for this, perhaps you are holding too tightly to your norms. If you see her as an archetype, perhaps you should learn to recognize bravery and individualism. And if you think her art is lacking, perhaps you should display your own, so that we can criticize your timid efforts as you dismiss her brave ones.

Re: “Instagram, art and the naked ambitions of Carrie Riehl

"I like art when someone paints something interesting or beautiful or ugly or thought-provoking. Or when they sculpt it. Or even spray it on the side of the building."

Me too.

"When they shave their eyebrows and then give bitchy responses about it, or take a picture of their period and post it to Instagram, I see it as a lame-ass 23-year-old who doesn't really seem to have any discernible talent but tries WAY fucking hard."

You are certainly having a visceral response to her art. It sure seems like you think her photography is ugly and thought provoking or you wouldn't go out of your way to comment on it. It pisses you off. Great! Why don't you delve into why it pisses you off. Engage with the art if you are having such strong emotions instead of being snarky. If it isn't worth your time to engage then why go out of your way to insult art that you don't care about?

I regret the former vulgarity of my response in my latest post for only of which that it was a result from my immediate feelings of ardent veneration to being met with such a repulsion of ignorance and lacking of foresight that my reaction could only be that of unescapable revulsion and compulsory affront that this article is certainly in the very least deserving of.

Re: “Instagram, art and the naked ambitions of Carrie Riehl

Calling art or an artist "edgy" has become the go to pejorative for people who usually don't care enough about art to actually engage with it but who still want to sound like they have an informed opinion. Do you have thoughts about the art or artist besides just snarky insults? Can you articulate a valid criticism right now as opposed to going to google to plagiarize someone else's criticism? I kind of doubt it.

I mean, SHE SHAVED HER EYEBROWS! THINK ABOUT IT! THINK ABOUT THE MEANING! THINK ABOUT WHAT IT'S SAYING! It's SO symbolic and arted. It's really all about how fragile we are, right? One moment we're here, and the next we're just shaved-off eyebrows. Dust in the wind, you know? UGH. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TALENTED ARTIST AND ALL OF THE AMAZING ART THAT SHE ARTS.

SO fucking provocative. I can't even take it. This is like, the EDGIEST shit I've seen in a LONG time. I. CAN'T. EVEN. I don't even feel worthy to look at a picture of her hairy legs or her nipples poking through her shirt. It's so deep and complex and nuanced. It makes me think WAY too hard and like, get a headache from all of the deep thinking.

Re: “At Westboro Baptist Church, Steve Drain found religion but lost a daughter

This individual has given evidence that he's not really in line with God. Just read the words of Christ in Matthew chapter 15. This person proves himself defiled with the language he uses and the hate he expresses with it. There is no reason for anyone to listen to these hypocrites (Jesus's term, not mine.)

I'm the bigger man and a pedophile. But I'm better now. I'd show the video but my wife looks so bad on film it wouldn't be nice to the viewers. Dustin is my sweetheart but he is a scumbag by definition who needs to be flushed down the toilet with me. Sheriff Ash is sexy!
