Re: “Best New Classic

LOVE the atmosphere! The bar/restaurant has a great vibe for business lunches AND after work/evening cocktails. I've only had a few things from the menu, but found the choices unique and well executed. I just love the design of it all, so comfortable but cosmopolitan in a chic "throw back" decor reminiscent of the late 60's or early 70's.

I've had the pleasure of staying in the hotel as a guest one night and LOVED it. All the staff I encountered seemed very friendly and welcome, and it had a very comfortable "make-yourself-at-home" feeling, more than I would have expected from a boutique hotel. My top pick for a weekend 'stay-cation'!

Re: “Best Desserts

I have had the personal pleasure of enjoying a few of the Fig Tree desserts....and will embarrassingly admit that I would replace ANY meal with any one of them! I didn't consider myself a big dessert fan until I tried their bread pudding and a couple of other things that I don't even remember what they called - but I do remember the chocolate & peanut butter and chocolate & nutella. OMG. DEC-A-DENT!

They serve dishes that are made with fresh and LOCAL ingredients and believe in what they do - so refreshing for KC! I'm jealous of those who live close by, so much better than the cookie-cutter franchises that dominate the suburbs!

And to "This is B.S."....you clearly have no idea about this place and your comment is obviously ignorant and juvenile.

Re: “Best Bar to Blow Through a Roll of Quarters

Gotta love the Clarette - I would have voted it best place to blow off an afternoon of work!

Re: “Best of Kansas City 2012

The Pitch is one of the last, if not THE last, publications in town to not succumb to advertiser influence or control. Some crossover between winners and advertisers should be expected - The Pitch READERS vote for readers choice! And it only makes sense that those who read the pitch would also like things similar to what the writers like, or they wouldn't read it.

And what about the articles published that haven't been "glowing"? Do you think none of those have been about advertisers? Love it or hate it, the Pitch tells it like they see it. Have some people in this city become so accustomed to 'pay-to-play" editorial they they don't know real writing when they read it? #sourgrapes?

Re: “Best of Kansas City 2012

i inquired a few years back about this, and was told the editorial staff picks the winners and they are usually all advertisers...and that's why they include the readers choice winners.

Re: “Arts & Entertainment

This is such a crock. Have any of you readers ever been to an AMC theater?
The product that they offer for 5 bucks on weeknights is as good as it gets.
If ya gotta have booze, shit just bring it along. They don't frisk anyone.

Re: “Best of Kansas City 2012

I only agree with one name on this list, the rest is BS. I want to know how much each company paid to have their name on this list.

Re: “Best Candles

I have been a devotee of 5B&Co since they were Three Blessings Candle company in Weston. How happy I am to see them listed here, as I know they are THE BEST candles. Period.

Re: “Best Run-in With the Missouri Highway Patrol

You think its tattoos and race. That doesn't mean that is what the officer was thinking. We've all been stopped before, but regular folks don't get a new tour bus to make them feel better.

Great place and the best cut in town. John and Vince are true masters. The decor is a true masterpiece.

This place rocks! High quality haircut for far less than you pay at a salon.
