Re: “Sixty or 90 minutes at a time, Fringe and the Invasion reveal heroes and also-rans

Interesting - and by that I mean 'superficial'. I saw 'Mata Hari' on the final performance and found the style intriguing, the performance utterly engaging, and the episodic nature of the portrayal more like watching a movie come to life. Perhaps your critic should get out more?

Re: “The Campground's Christopher Ciesiel talks crowdsourcing ahead of Saturday's pop-up fundraiser

I really wish I could get excited about this place but I wrote them, like, six months ago asking to be added to their list/notified of their upcoming events. The first communication I ever received was a request for money.

Re: “Rex Sinquefield thinks raising the minimum wage is an injustice to African-Americans on par with police shootings

Mr. Sinquefield does not think we should pay taxes. However, at $7.50 the taxpayers must pay for healthcare, food stamps, rent assistance, etc. Does he think this is good, or does he want to cure poverty by letting the poor die of hunger or disease?

Re: “Anita Bryant is alive ... and up to her old tricks

Here is the deal. Anita Bryant is (still alive?) A waste of air and space. Anyone who thinks that being gay is "chosen" has sexual problems. We are born straight or we are born gay, oh and then some are born dumb as posts and for those we can do nothing. We do not chose our sexual orientation homosexuality is as natural and heterosexuality mother nature did not make mistakes. Homosexuality is a natural form of population control. If you do not understand something seek to learn dom't claim to know if you do not seek knowledge you will stay stupid just like Anita Bryant who is still as dumb as a rock..oh yeah and about the Christian thing isn't God the only judge?

Draconian?? Really?? How about this to sober you up...

Every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver.

Your out for drinks with friend until you hit and innocent person.

Re: “Kansas City, Missouri, City Council passes convention hotel deal

100% serious, no sarcasm implied. Mr. Sanders book is all about "build it and they (tourists) will come...and then they never come". This will most likely be the same story for KC in a few years because they need to go "all in" on tourism/conventions.

I was a tourism major in college and once I left KC it became so clear all of the tourism industry shortcomings in the 816-913 area. The citizens in KC keep voting down and complain about light rail and all these other great projects that would benefit the local residents and the convention tourists. Unfortunately you are not ever going to become a 1st or even 2nd tier city. Even Cleveland is outbidding KC for major conventions! Terrible reputation aside, Cleveland invested heavily and now is already seeing ROI. Detroit just threw a ton of $$ at the Cobo Center & New Orleans is expanding their already massive Convention Center to create an entire new convention/tourism district along an undeveloped riverfront area.

With projects like this hotel, etc., companies and organizations will not be so quick to depart, and will add jobs and private development to the Riverfront & Downtown, etc. It all needs to work together and then you won't have the NCAA and others relocating to other states or Overland Park...

At least KC is trying to do something good with this hotel, but they really need to speed up tourism infrastructure improvements and not spread them out over 50 years.

Re: “Kansas City, Missouri, City Council passes convention hotel deal

I read Mr. Sanders book, and as boring as it was, the facts are the facts. I work at a convention center in a rival city to KC (I'm a former KC resident) and our expansion and tourism numbers are absolutely killin' it. In fact the entire downtown is killin' it.

The problem KC has is they don't go all in. If they truly want to land the conventions that REALLY go for it. I'm talking new airport, light rail, street car, entertainment (BBQ museum?), even more hotels walking distance to Bartle Hall, reduce crime, riverfront development, casinos, expanded bicycle access, and sell sell sell to event planners. KC missed an opportunity to move The K downtown, but hit a home run with the Sprint Center and P&L. You cannot put one little hyatt downtown and expect to double your annual bookings and room nights...

Follow in the success of Indianapolis, Denver, OKC, Salt Lake City, heck - even Omaha could pass up KC one day if they're not careful.

Re: “Kansas City, Missouri, City Council passes convention hotel deal

If there is so much money to be made from the conventions that will never come why do they need all the public money?

Let's see, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Kansas City which one to choose. Tough decisions.

Re: “Kansas City, Missouri, City Council passes convention hotel deal

Why the shady dealing from the Council? I am particularly disappointed with the actions of one SCOTT WAGNER, a man who reportedly has aspirations to be the next Mayor. SCOTT WAGNER did not seek to stop the back door, lame duck approval of this package. The city passed this as an "emergency". Because of this there is only 5 days to reconsider its passage. Hmmmm.... the new council is seated in 8 days. How convenient

SCOTT WAGNER DOES NOT REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF THE NORTHLAND. HE TURNED HIS BACK ON HIS SUPPORTERS. THE VERY PEOPLE WHO DECIDED NOT TO RUN AN OPPONENT AGAINST HIM.

SCOTT WAGNER IS BAD FOR KANSAS CITY. Remember this when he asks you to make him the next mayor of Kansas City. Let's see what SCOTT WAGNER does with the new airport plan.

Even though it won't be open super-late and it'll be super-tiny, at least he's super-flattered that people are donating. Sounds really, really, enormously, immensely, super-super!

Re: “Van Halen showed its age at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater last night

The band was right on. I do not mind improvisation. BUT ! Dave could you sing one song like it's recorded. Is it that difficult Dave. All in all it was a very good show. The arrangement of a song with the vocals sung correctly is the song. This is how it goes Dave. Everybody wants some, back up vocals. Now its your turn to sing Dave .I want some too. And take that LAS VAGAS outfit off Dave. Put on some jeans and a tee-shirt and rock out.Your a down and dirty rock band.
