Re: “Charles Johnson, 'most hated man on the Internet,' a former Kauffman Foundation intern

"The Media" won't report on ANYTHING that might make them seem uncool at parties or which could limit their access to cool celebrity types.

I applaud Ratfuckers as muckrakers, and we need them on all sides. Corporate media will not tell the truth if it hurts the bottom line, and we need people not afraid to do that (that's one reason I read Pitch, because the Star is more than a bit meek these days). Much of it comes with a political bent, but any muckraking is better than no muckraking ... though it needs to be TRUE!

Party on, Chuck!

Your article says "her father," I think you mean the former owner of the impregnating sperm.

My mom did 2 shows with Bea Johnson and wondering if any of the tapes still exist. I would really like to get a copy. To the daughter, my mom was a fan of your mothers.

Re: “'Legitimate rape' lives on in Missouri: Rep. Rick Brattin wants proof before a rape victim can get an abortion

Let's hope this sinks Brattin's political career as Akin's idiocy sunk his. To compare the criminality of rape to robbery reveals such deep ignorance so as to reveal his unfitness for public office. Let Brattin take his phony Chiclet-teeth smile to a used car lot and ply his trade there.

Steve - probably because Jess Ray is directly involved in some way and doesn't have anything solid with which to refute your article.

To Garzone; Please stay away. Go to single location places that are poorly run and failing and eat bad food - you deserve it.

Re: “Two ultra-small startups duel to sell ultrafast broadband to Lawrence

A couple years ago I had my direct run in with Montgomery and his actions spoke loud and clear about the kind of business man he is. I was a business account manager for 7-8 years at the cable company and I had sold service to a new business going into the Garber building across from Hyvee on 6th st. Freenet had their ISP equipment in the mechanical room which is where our technicians needed access in order to install service for my new customer. Montgomery denied access to the demarc for our technicians to install service and then he had the audacity to offer HIS OWN service to this new tenant. The new tenant accepted the offer and he got them promptly hooked up. UNREAL!! That is unethical behavior at it's finest!

Re: “Two ultra-small startups duel to sell ultrafast broadband to Lawrence

I'm another one of those local businesses that was hurt by Mr. Bosch. When he was working with iCafe LLC, he violated Apple's rules to compete with my business. He nearly cost the MacXprts network their authorization and put hundreds of people out of jobs just to get a quick buck.

My business lost dozens of clients and thousands of dollars. He was unethical, unprofessional and untrustworthy. He caused deep and permanent scars with some groups, including BNI. MacXprts never fully recovered from the damage he did.

I think he assumed after he left town for a few years, people would forget about his business practices. I appreciate the detailed and well-researched reporting on this story. Many of us were under NDAs and couldn't talk about this in detail--and still can't. Sometimes we need someone from outside our community to report the facts.

Interesting. 75th St. Brewery is bound to brew a drinkable beer at some point so I'll have to check this one out.
