Re: “Pitmaster and restaurant veteran Rob Magee stamps the Q39 brand on restaurant row

I really like this place and have taken many people there. It really is amazing quality. I love the ribs. My only complaint - and a lot of people I have taken there say the same thing - the portion sizes are way too small. I understand it takes a lot of time and money to prepare BBQ this good; however, I honestly feel like I could easily eat two of the $19 judges platters. And I am not a huge guy - I don't abnormally large portions. But to me, BBQ is the one thing where I want to go and be able to pig out. Put it this way, for less money, I have never been able to finish a serving at OkJoes. Like I said, this is my one small suggestion. This place is awesome, I'll be back, with more friends. This is the next big KC BBQ restaurant.

Re: “Platte City's Chaz 325 tells no lies about its comfort food

I just went there to eat, based on this review. "6-ounce rib-eye (very tender, perfectly grilled)" A good steak until now was not available in PC unless you cooked it yourself. This place is not Justus Drugstore, by any means, but it may well be the best place to eat in Platte City. The chicken fried chicken is also very good and has enormous proportions.

Fot the bar, I ordered a double, neat and got a generous pour. It is non-smoking so smokers will have to cope or go elsewhere (I am a smoker). For the foood and service I got, it is worth waiting for a smoke.

Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

Even though it is the same owner the Pho at Pho Hoa was way better for some reason. I am sad they are getting rid of pho hoa

It is a great read . Funny , yet well reasoned. I read to be entertained. I dine to be entertained. Restaurants are the best theatre around. Some people cannot see the forest for the trees. Get a clue Lux, you humorless anal retentive silly boy...

Re: “Platte City's Chaz 325 tells no lies about its comfort food

The 132-year-old town famously tossed bank robber Bonnie Parker, the Bonnie of Bonnie and Clyde, in the clink after a 1933 shootout. I don't remember how she got out of the Platte City jail,
How was she in the Platte City Jail when they were all in Iowa in the shootout where Buck Barrow got killed?

don't be hatin' on Chuck. He's doing his job as a food critic. A restaurant has no place selling Costco cake for dessert.

Lay off Charles, he's pretty much damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. And, apparently it is, what it is. And, he apparently, though under impressed, was able to give a thumbs up for several items.

Charles why do you bother with the sh*t talking reviews? For mom-and-pops you don't care for in towns you care for even less? Is there not some other more deserved target for the snark? Jesus interview local chefs or farmers or something...it's a drag to read this snobby dreck.

Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

Reason for the name? Duhr anyone who had a brain would know that Vietnam was colonized by the French.

Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

It's not a genius name, though. It's a name that encourages people to mispronounce Pho. :(

Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

I was fortunate enough to be at iPhoTower for it's Grand Opening, and have been back on a weekly basis, since. Every single thing I've had, has been delicious. As someone else said, the Pho is rich and savory anytime of the day, and every time I order it. The Banh Mi - Special - is exquisite. I've learned to love the crunch of cilantro in everything! The Sweet Potato Fritters are the perfect appetizer (or meal!). The fully stocked bar has excellent variety. Give it a shot - you won't regret it!

Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

Anything that Spike and his team put on the plate is bound to be amazing. His heart and soul goes into his cooking, if you can't see that then McDonalds is right down the road. It is so refreshing to know that Spike always has fresh ingredients and his dishes are always consistant. My family and I have been going to his restaurants every since he opened both locations. I crave the Pho no matter the season. I encourage those who like adventure to go see Spike and his family, you won't be disappointed!

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

I stopped liking Blanc as well. This place gets more and more expensive, and the quality degrades, with every visit. All burgers are a 1/3 pound grind. For $12-$14 and a few shoddy ingredients, and your side (fries) not even included is insane. I feel shafted everytime I go here.

It's a sub par burger that they liven up with a few unique ingredients. Nick and Jakes is opening on the Plaza. You can get a 1/2 lb fresh ground burger that puts Blanc to shame that includes fries (regular or sweet potato) for about $10.

I enjoy local establishments and prefer to support them. The problem is, local KC establishments have this trend of thinking they've become something they aren't and end up driving themselves in the ground.
