Re: “America's Pub is out of Westport

Harris Wilder is a terrible, incompetent attorney!!! You don't grandfather in a liquor license... what an asshole! He handled a purchase of a liquor establishment for a friend of mine, and he over-charged them, and liquor control shut them down. Liquor control said that their attorney was INCOMPENT or just STUPID! If Harris is involved, expect America's Pub to get screwed! I also heard Harris doesn't honor attorney/client privilege. Jerk!!!

Re: “America's Pub is out of Westport

As a former doorman and security guy from a few doors down from A.P. - I'm frankly happy to see it go, and am amazed that it's taken this long. Seemed like there was always a fight down at A.P., then the hooligan's would try and get into our place. So long, A.P.!

Re: “America's Pub is out of Westport

I think a similar story was probably written when Stanford's went out of business. America's Pub did not make people violent. A small portion of their patrons were violent. They will not cease to be violent without Americas Pub. They will just go somewhere else. The real question is who will step up to cater to them now that America's Pub is gone.

Re: “Claw and FSTZ introduce dubstep to Kansas City

'dubstep sucks it more main stream and cheesy than hiphop thanks'

errr no dave, you've just only ever heard sucky mainstream dubstep... do some research and check out dudes like digital mystikz, kode9, goth-trad, kryptic minds etc...

pure bassweight, none of your noisy filth nonsense or mainstream pop-step

so many people need to take a dubstep history lesson and learn than the roots of the genre are so radically different to the crap that loads of people are putting out these days

Re: “John McKenna and Sara Swenson steel the spotlight

"Few things are more beautiful than the aching croon of lap steel." That may be true, but lap steel and pedal steel are actually different instruments.

Yo Kent! Finally something I can get into featured in the Pitch. I wonder if the editors are paying attention... I mean you guys aren't 22, playing busted instruments in V-necks for PBR.

Re: “Sonic Spectrum pays tribute to the greats

First of all, let me say I am not Mayor Funkhouser writing in disguise. That is the usual baseless contention I get if I write anything supportive of Funkhouser. Those of us not mislead by the mayor's juvenile detractors see the truth.

Much of Funkhouser's
efforts to improve Kansas City (and Lord knows it needs improving) are unproductive because of sabotaged efforts. There is nothing wrong with the Mayor and everything wrong with the City Council. Due to the juvenile, name-calling conduct of the Council I am ashamed to admit I live in Kansas City. Most of what the Council seems to focus on is not for the benefit of the city but instead to dredge up previous and on-going problems caused by the Council but attributed to Mayor Funkhouser. I recall they cost the city considerable funds filing a lawsuit against Funkhouser. The judge ruled against them and called into question the character of the Council for its vendetta re the Mayor's wife. Even in light of being exposed as fools they continue to cause problems meant to reflect poorly on the Mayor however it is obvious to the astute where the problem lies and it is not the Mayor.
I see criticism of him for continuing to fight the Council's giving away precious city funds to the stadium owners. They say they feel an "obligation". It's too bad they don't feel an obligation to represent city residents, you know, the ones who pay their salary. The city is in desperate need of repairs and the cost of living here far outweighs the benefits. My taxes have doubled since moving here and services have gone down. Much of that is because of the council's arrogance and counterproductive foot dragging. They vote against worthwhile projects because they are determined the major not get any recognition for his worthwhile efforts and have even said as much. We are paying people who openly state their goal is to hinder progress.

The problem is NOT that the mayor can't "get along" with the council. It's not his job to get along with the council. It's his job, one he takes seriously, to represent what is best for K.C.

If Mayor Funkhouser is not re-elected it will be because the council has dedicated time they should have been addressing K.C.'s challenges instead to making fools of themselves disparaging his efforts. He is one of the first mayors in some time who is more concerned with what's good for K.C. than building some new hotel or development or shrine to himself.

It's sad the citizens of K.C. are unaware of the good results we could have were it not for the continued petty and vindictive council members whose arrogance prohibits they explain why they feel greater obligations to wealthy ball team owners than to the taxpayers of K.C. who elected them. Our streets and schools need funding far more than greedy stadium owners. Name calling "get rid of the funk" is what I've come to expect from council members.

Kansas City has a long history of foolish behavior (remember Superintendent Marx, the ridiculous behavior of the school board). The council members do nothing to earn the salaries they receive. It would be nice if they would grow up and do an honest days work instead of their juvenile unseemly antics.

I'm tired of paying for nonexistent services and unworkable regulations restricting my enjoyment of my home. The fact is I really don't enjoy Kansas City anymore. But don't blame the mayor, look beyond they council's whining to see the truth.

Re: “Pearl Jam's guitarist talks about his "other" band

hey there Stoonnne!

no really, I hope they do the usual 3 year thing and get an album out by 2012 at least. The Matt sharing bands thing is scary though. Especially after what happened to Mike Portnoy with Dream Theater/Avenged Sevenfold?

He quits, then what? Call Jack again? Sure hope so!
