Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

Dear Tiger Mom,
I feel your pain. I know my daughter went through a similar thing. My daughter happens to be Mexican on behalf of me and Middle Eastern on behalf of her dad. I had to talk to my daughter and reassure her that the person who was bullying her was a jealous person. I believe the others are jealous because Caucasian girls are beautiful no doubt. I also took my frustration and sent a link of what bullying does to kids right back to the principal. My daughter says the principal interrupted Gym class in 6th grade and announced they would be reviewing bullying and what it does. So I know the pain is there but use it to propel you to a greater sense of accomplishment. I would ask my daughter who is responsible for those hurtful comments and discuss it with the principal so that the parties are made responsible and they may know how hurtful it is to call someone out of their name. Hope this helps.
Peace in Christ,
Mommy in Olathe

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

That.. is not...
what I...
said.
Do try to pay attention, darling.
That said, I can see you have no intention of changing your views for your own betterment, and would much rather put others down in a subtle and demeaning manner in order to justify yourself; as such, I am not going to speak with you any more on the subject. Oh, and... just because a person puts it on the table that they have and perhaps struggle with a certain extra issue, does not mean that they, as you put it, play the victim. I do not do that; never have, never will. Nuff said. Peace be upon you.

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

In other words, you dont take any responsibility for your actions. People with ASSperger's that have been shown to be more than capable of learning different behavior. Your comment on multiple disorders simply proves that you've been hoodwinked by an unethical psychologist (and exactly HOW many meds does he/she have you on...?) that has convinced you that you have no control over your own behavior. It is unfortunate, but not anyone else effin problem but yours. It all boils down to our own choices. Please choose to be empowered rather than a victim (as your psychologist would have you).

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

Uh-huh. have you ever heard of Asperger's? Or other mental issues? Your own comment shows just how ignorant you are, unfortunately. Because people can't always help their reaction. It's chemicals, people. Despite the best intentions, sometimes the chems and other body-aspects pf physicality just aren't up to the task of properly deciphering other's behaviour, or, for that matter, responding in a non-harmful way to it. I happen to HAVE a mood disorder, as well as Asperger's, ADHd and other things that affect Impulse Control and perception of others' social cues and comments. And yet, I struggle every day trying not to let my moods get the best of me. They frighten me, b ecasue I do not want to be an animal, and yet, animals are what we are. that is the task of intellect, to temper with compassion and galvanize with love in order to understand the environment we live in. And still people do what they do. The mind cannot yet, it seems to me, fully control itself, nor its impulses. Case in point, your comment, my comment, hell, everyone's comment. People would be surprised if they realized just how much our daily lives revolve around the need for or the shying away from sensation. Consider that, if you will. Peace be upon you.

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

There is no such thing as racism. Its all just prejudice. Prejudice is a necessary part of being human. It, like most things, can be abused and is often. I remind everyone, that sticks and stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you. Funny that a children's rhyme, states so eloquently what most adults seem to forget. You have to allow others to demean or hurt you. Why would you want to take to heart the words of another when they only come from a place of ignorance or stupidity? Maybe ignorance and stupidity on the recipients part?

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

Dear Mister Arellano,
Hola!

And what would you tell those girls who called that other girl a -white bitch-? how would you deal with their prejudice if you were , say, a:

Student?
Teacher?
Parent?
Police Officer?

Might you, as a columnist, be willing to describe such, for the benefit of your readers?

I ask because, although I was not as much a victim of racial abuse as every OTHER kind in school, I feel the need to raise awareness across lines, being a person with many extra issues which would in most cases facilitate extra abuse. Thank you for writing your column. And as for all those abusive comments down there about the other commenters, I am:

American
Seminole
Scottish
Irish
German
etc.

Please don't hurt yourselves by trying hurt others.

Remember what Ghandi said, at least -I- try to:
"It is always possible to be kind."
And if you feel you don't want to, you should get psychological assistance. Please. For your own sakes!

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

the people who make up these laws are the same people who break them, i dont think that is great at all.what is so great about all the crimes and atrocities committed by the europeans since 1492,and if you were to tell me that your grandmother was part native american ,making you part native american, i would say that the only reason you have any native american blood is because of the crimes and atrocities committed by your european ancestors, even to this day.

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

hola gabacho y gracias por su apoio, no todos los gabochos son racistas y hasta cuando la mayoria de los gabachos se acumplen asi como usted , nosotros ,los mejicanos ,seguiremos con la lucha.por la libertad mental, igual que de otras manreras, de nuestra gente.the only mistake you make in your comments is calling us hispanos or latinos, niether of which we are .hispanics and latinos are europeans and gabochos need to face that fact,we did not kill off our own people, the europeans did.la lengua que usted ama viene de europa y no de esta tierra, simplemente.no conosco ni un mejicano que habla la verdadera lengua latina matter of fact dont know of any race who uses that language any longer, even the vatican does not use it . the words hispano and latino are just words that the evil racist europeans use to confuse and manipulate people with, your name seems to be of french origin which is latin.sprechen sie duetch. oui, oui. y hasta luego compa y que tengas buenos dias.
