Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

Americans, who are either born here LEGALLY or who are Legal Citizens. Illegals have the right/option to become Legals, but if they do that - then they have to go be our Laws and Rules. And they do not get nearly as many 'freebies' off the Legal Citizens. Americans will indeed do the Jobs that the Illegals - of more than just Mexico. Our Country had a system set up - then you all start taking short cuts and come in an literally under cut the rightful workers.

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

I am good with anyone, regardless of Race, as long as they are here Legally. To continue to foster and pay for Illegals is ignorance on the part of the True and Legitimate -Legal Citizens of this Country.

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

Lazy jobs? You mean being the local drug dealer or rapist? Cause whenever I watch the news its about some illegal raping and killing children or running a drug lab in apartment building filled with people.

I think its funny as hell all these dumb mexicans say mexico is the best country in the world. Why your here in America and not in your third world country that's governed by the drug cartels?

Re: “Why doesn't the Mexican translate all his Spanish words?

The primary reason why no one respects latino's anymore cause they come here illegally and break our laws. Mexicans are too lazy to apply for a green card or a visa at the border and not break any US laws.

Re: “Roadside memorials and Moorish pasts

So are these "memorials" actually put where the loved one's were killed/died or are they just placed by the side of the road and in the medians as a rememberance?

Re: “Culture isn't the culprit

It would be nice if these columns were written in English. After all, we aren't all illegal latino immigrants.

Re: “Culture isn't the culprit

It is true that Latina females, when compared to other female groups, have the highest drop-out rate in the USA and are the least likely of all to be found on college campuses. Find out for yourself and check the studies and growing statistics on this particular issue. It is sad but true.

Re: “The Mexican translates for you

Do you really not get the point, amigos? I've been reading Gustavo Arellano's shtick since the days when "Ask a Mexican" was a feature that launched in my beloved OC Weekly, back when I, too, was a proud, too-much-rent-paying Southern Californian. The point is that the column is a satire of the typical Anglo attitudes toward Hispanics in general—that they're all "Mexicans," they all want to sponge off the system, they're only good for picking crops, they all live nineteen to a room—what have you. Like any good satire, sometimes it's offensive. But if you see the purpose underneath, it's smart and great. Viva la Mexican, 'Tavo!

Re: “Here’s why Mexican men are so sexy, and what not to say when you wake up wanting to … you know

Girl!!!! Leave the damn man alone and go look for a better one, it sounds like he wants to use you. find someone else who would love to consider you as a friend and also his lover, don't stick around no man who would live with you for two years, dates you and have other women on the side and no wine dine you. How dare he dates you, live with you for two danky years and don't don't see your good worth, leave the blasted joker alone. I now see your message from 9 nine months ago, is January 2011 now. Have you left that man yet ?

Re: “The Mexican translates for you

If the mexicans were a proud and hard working people they would go back home and unite to get there country back and make it like this country. Ah but their not they just want to stay here and suck up all the freebies work for cash (pay no taxes) and then when this country is as screwed up as theirs they will find somewhere else to suck up on. I am not against mexicans just want them to pull their weight.

Re: “The Mexican translates for you

this isn't racist at all. It says ask a Mexican, not a hispanic person. Why would someone believe that ask a Mexican could be turned into ask an Asian...that's a continent, not a country or ask a black person...black people are of all different nationalities. Mexico is a corrupt country to our great nations south. The people there are hard working people but they can't get ahead with the corrupt society they live in. Coming to America, working and not paying taxes to then leave and never return any of that revenue from the country you got it in is kind of messed up. You are breaking Federal law from the second you walk across that border without getting a visa or a green card. America is a melting pot and if you have too much national pride then find themselves in another country because in reality the nation they come from is garbage.....drop the mexican flag and pick up an American flag. You can't be a mexican in America, we don't offer duel citizenship.

Re: “The Mexican translates for you

Oh Wow - How about "Ask a Black Person" or "Ask an Asian" - Personally I don't see anything wrong with this - But with America's lack of humor - to some this would seem racist. Hell, I wouldn't care if someone would ask me questions - We could call it "Ask the White Chick" But, I'm part Indian also - so how would that go? Lighten up people - Stop being so uptight and just enjoy life. Tomorrow is no guarantee - and this issue is way too petty to be discussed. Let's discuss something more important - THE LOSS OF JOBS IN AMERICA AND OUR CONTINUED POVERTY LEVELS KEEP DROPPING, OR LACK OF QUALITY EDUCATION - No that's too real! So, let's just pick on the BEANER for now...

Re: “The Mexican explains Mexican cuisine and roots for traditional cacao

If you are in the Somerville/Cambridge MA area Maya Sol on Broadway in Somerville has so excellent food. It is marketed as Mexican but like many Mexican restaurants in the area are owned by El Salvadorians. The food is excellent.
