If you want to see the speech tracy gave that night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOt91NZfqy0 So proud of you, girl!!!
I think it's funny that being opposed to the E-tax is "provocative". I'm pretty sure the only people that will vote to keep the E-tax are the people somehow reliant upon it passing (dogcatchers, city hall employees) or people too ignorant to understand the reason for taxes in the first place (pooling money to pay for services, not wastefully spending other people's money on pet projects). It is beyond absurd for the Pitch to suggest that the city would have difficulty functioning without the E-tax. Most cities do not have this tax and are a hell of a lot better/efficient at handling "basic services".
Tracy Ward is a very earnest and hard working candidate. I think she sincerely wants to make Kansas City a better place.
Sounds like an excellent candidate to help restore fairness and freedom to Kansas City. She has my vote!
I know Steve Glorioso and he's a nice guy that's been around the politics of this city for several decades, but it's time for some non-politicians to help bring back this city into accountability to the people. The politicians have held the reigns for far too long. I know Tracy Ward and I will vote for her! She is a stand up woman with a trademark pink hair style WHO CAN THINK for herself. She's NOT a yes girl and that might be a little too unconventional for some! I am ready for a LOT of UNCONVENTIONAL. The political pundits and "conventional" got us where we are -- in a mess!! Bring it on Tracy!!
Seems people who don't want Tracy to win are the very same who like the statist quo and want things to remain the way they are. Especially Republicans who are nothing more than hypocritical statists who pretend to be for "limited government". I wish you the best Tracy.
Awesome Tracy your dedication to liberty and freedom does not go unnoticed. Keep up the vigilance, we are in this together and you are not alone!!
Thanks for running Tracy. Your dedication to making a real difference is inspiring. Let me know when the next LRP meeting is. Here's to hope for more freedom, less government, and a better life for us all.
This author has no concept of economics if he thinks you can't ever cut a government program without cutting services, and having direct effect on the citizens. I thought people stopped buying into the sham of Keynesian economics back in 2008. There have been numerous books that explain the cycle of government programs. You get zealots, that turn into burnouts and the program turns useless after about 5 years. It's really debatable whether the program was useful in it's first five years too, but people have such crazy hopes in new programs that their vision is skewed. DAVID MARTIN, you need to face it. If the city has an unsustainable budget for what the taxpayers are willing to pay, they have no choice but to cut their budget. Unfortunately, this will only slow down the problem, because in a fractional reserve system, eventually debts overwhelm profits. It's a mathematical certainty. It sounds like Tracy Ward is trying to ease Kansas City into the coming depression instead of slamming into it head on. If I were you, I'd take it. But, then again, I don't like whiplash. Also, to the comments about Tracy being a conspiracy nut-job, I didn't read anything in the article about that. They were talking about someone else, and trying to get you to associate her with something they couldn't confirm to be true.
I guess if you consider republicans as people who are against an imperialistic foreign policy including the current foreign wars, for gay marriage, for the end of drug prohibition, against policies or laws that violate the constitution in the name of "security" or "safety"; then I guess most libertarians are just republicans in sheep's clothing.
Good Luck Tracy - We need more people like ya xx
This country needs more people like Tracy Ward, regular, everyday citizens willing to step up,end the corruption and fight for the rights of those around her.
Tracy Ward would be great for liberty and getting people prepared! Brian Frank http://www.DontStarve.MyeFoods.com
Bloated unions not endorsing Tracy? Then Tracy has my vote :)
A politician who wants to defend civil liberties instead of enriching corporations or special interests at the expense of the taxpayer? What a novel concept! I'm sure the Democrats and the Republicans will work very hard to prevent her from getting elected.
I think they meant in .1 percent increments, which in ten years would equal 1 percent, which is the current tax.
Who cares what color her hair is?To me, it shows that she's willing to stand up against the establishment. Also, Van Jones is a self-avowed COMMUNIST. Communists are statists. Libertarians are the opposite of statists. They believe in limited government. If you take the quiz at www.theadvocates.org, you'll see that statists are at the bottom of the diamond and libertarians are at the top.
Since you asked...Tracy is an Honest and Gutsy, Breath of Fresh Air! We need more like her. Good Luck, Tracy!
The uptight blue-hairs don't like anyone who goes against the grain. Too bad you all don't know what you are missing. If you don't understand the philosophy of liberty which Tracy does, then you are surely lost. Vote for freedom.
Re: “Is City Council candidate Tracy Ward a breath of fresh air or a political exhibitionist?”
Very refreshing. The author sounds a bit biased; spending in any political fair can use more than a bit of shaving. I can only imagine the sewer dept, the water dept, and the trash dept have a great deal of irresponsible spending and unnecessary buget allowances ripe for the trimming. You GO pink haired girl!
