This movie looks so good and if its anything like the movies under related content we're all in for a treat, can't wait for it on June 4th!!

The Bush Disastr is hardly a "memory".
It is hard to get your conceptual arms around the galactic blunder that is the Iraq War. As our kids continue to exsanguinate into the sand in foreign countries, the region is dramatically more destabilized, American prestige is unrecoverable, 3 trillion war dollars are wasted and we are shamed by a Gulf of Tonkin type lie, again. Yes again.
Bush, Cheney and Rumsfield (Read the real "Green Zone", the book, my god...)cowboyed our honor, future and many lives into another (Yes my Vietnam era friends, ANOTHER!) unwinnable war for hearts and minds with no clear cut goals, exit strategy (for godssakes not ONE operative in charge knew the differnce between a Sunni and a Shia!)and a peurile, pathetic highschool nonchalance with respect to day to day combat.
Bush and Cheney's war experience are similar to Rush Limbaughs (He had a deferment for ass worts for godssakes!), none. Harms way to these narcissistic stooges is too many pickles on the burger.
Heartless, souless morons, led by Bush's Brain (Karl Rove, whose friends no doubt end up in a bathtub full of ice and a missing kidney when they get in his way.) precipitated our economic decline, military quagmire and have left us with the gravitas of a housewife of Orange County.

It seems like the reviewer wants to have it both ways. The reviewer seems to take issue with what seems to be updatings and wants a more "traditional" Holmes, but wants the film to reference modern day issues.
And the fact is that this version of Holmes is probably closer to the source material than previous film versions. In point of fact, Conan Doyle did not have Holmes wear a deerstalker. That was the work of the illustator of the books.
And Holmes knew how to fight with his hands, among other weapons.
In the final analysis, I think most people go to movies to get away from the real world and not every movie should have to reference modern times.

The Cohen Bros. did not make this film to please a general public of movie-goers. It is an extremely insightful and funny story about a Jewish family and Jewish life told by two brothers who are Jewish. It is a movie full of inside first-hand knowledge and it is very funny.
"Larry's pneumatic pothead of a neighbor..." who is "the sole looker in sight and therefore probably a shiksa" has a muzuzah on her home's outside door-frame. The whole scene of him deciding to knock on her door lets us know that she's Jewish. That, and the fact that she refers to Larry's other neighbors as "goys."
Depressing, humorous, and will leave you thinking hours after it's over. A beautiful movie.
