Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

"Superunknown and its predecessor, Badmotorfinger"

Really? For someone who is a writer, you should know what the hell you are writing about.

The ending was the best part of the show. Last time I checked they didn't start off as some dad rock band from the 80's. They were a punk band. Get a clue. Setlist was amazing, sound was amazing, everything was on point. Keep typing away you mad dads.

Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

I saw em play Black Hole Sun on some live concert on the Palladia music channel. It sounded thin and horrible. Stop that fucking hyena from making those screeching noises. Its sends me into a Son of Sam rage.

Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

ive been to VERY loud shows. Its not the loudness of the feedback that bothered me, it was the fuggin CHAOS of it, it was NOT enjoyable, most definitely gave EVERYONE inside the Midland ear damage, and at one point had me thinking i was going to DROP, legitimately stole my equilibrium out from under my feet. Not enjoyable. I wanted to give Chris Cornell a personal punch to the face

Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

the light show and visuals were incredible. The ending, absolutely ruined the show.

They end every show like that. Seen them 4 times this tour and once last tour. Every time.

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

Folks in PV upset about a development of property that doesn't necessarily meet with their uppity sense of aesthetics for their personal properties - SHOCKING!!!...not.

Would these be all the same people who tried to cause a major traffic jam at Indian Hills middle school when the the closing of MV was being discussed by asking EVERYONE (whether a parent or not) to drive through the drop off area at Indian Hills to clog up the process? Heaven forbid a school be closed to help the district survive, even though was not even close to attendance capacity.

Re: “So is Kansas City International a convenient airport or not?

I travel 3-4 times a month for work, and KCI is far and away the most convenient and easiest airport to deal with across the country. Early morning travel is only difficult during spring break, the holidays, and special events (Nascar race, All Star Game, etc). I love it.

I'm sure the airport officials don't like it because it lacks the revenue streams of nice restaurants and useless malls that other airports have. It's nice having restaurants, but most of the other amenities in other airports are completely unnecessary. The Pork & Pickle has been a nice addition in the Southwest terminal.

I will say that the new Southwest terminal at Dallas Love Field is very nice, as it highlights local restaurants.

Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

Anyone perplexed by the feedback at the end must have never been to a rock concert prior to the year 2000. Standard fare for a 90s band. I dig.

Re: “Soundgarden's sludgy sound, last night at The Midland (review)

My take was that the sound and lighting were designed for a much bigger venue. The sound engineering made them unintelligible. I'm not sure what was up with the 5 minutes of feedback at the end. One of the strangest things I had ever seen at a concert.

Re: “Kansas City is not a top-five beer city

Yeah, we have a pretty weak brew scene here. Part of the problem is that microbrew restaurants were illegal in MO until 1990 I think. I've always wondered why Boulevard doesn't open up a restaurant like Schlafly though. Anyway, McCoy's is a decent place but their beer sucks. Haven't been to the other TWO microbrews in the city. Well, I've been to Biersch and Granite City but they're both out of town crap.

Re: “Kansas City is not a top-five beer city

So, I guess someone who actually does their homework should point out that it was not Travel + Leisure that made this proclamation, but readers of the magazine who rated 35 cities on a number of features and ultimately determined the ranked list with their votes. Crowdsourced lists like this are hardly ever truly accurate, but at the very least, this one speaks to the fact that people hold Kansas City in high regard in the beer world. Posting an article with a headline like this seems opportunistic and inflammatory for the sake of being inflammatory. Do better.

Craft beer fans - and Kansas political news fans - should go on the iTunes and look up Sunflower Brew. It's a podcast where Kansas politics is discussed over a craft beer.

Re: “Does the city need a new, billion-dollar Kansas City International?

Who really goes to an airport for fine dining and high end gift shops?? Get me on and off the plane as quickly and with as little hassle as possible. I travel extensively for work and live in the KC area and even if i park in the KCI Economy parking lot i know that once i step off the plane with my carry on, i will be in my car in about 20 min or less. @justmywords----What exactly is it about KCI that doesnt work??
