Re: “Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar finally made an oyster eater out of me

I won't step foot in this place because of the prices and it's a chain. I support locally owned restaurants. The plaza is full of chains now. Sad.

Cooked is fine. Raw looks too much like somebody blew their nose into the shell for me to ever feel completely comfortable eating it.

Yeah, most readers of the Pitch won't go near this place due to its super high prices. I would rather read a review of City Fish or Jumpin' Catfish. I'm not poor but not rich either.

Glad you liked those oysters. I can understand why people are squeamish at first; Cold, slimy (in appearance) and definitely a whole animal and I understand most folks like their animal based food to look nothing like an actual animal. But gosh, they are like eating the sea, in a good way. Nothing like them, and worth every penny of the high price. If only I had an income that would support eating them. It's easy to spend $100 if the main dish is oyster.

This bar is one of my favs in Des Moines! They have all the classics, pin ball machines that they rotate in and out, and more rare games! And ski ball! They host a ski ball league is Des Moines!

Mortal "Combat"? Killer "Instincts"? Do some googling before going to print.

If they've got NARC, XENOPHOBE or RAMPAGE, there's going to be some major joystick action.

There is no food sales requirement in Kansas City for Sunday licenses anymore. The ordinances were changed last year.
