Re: “KU student overcomes $1,800 bill for open records request seeking information between professor and Koch Industries

What the hell,

If you read the story closely, you will see that the student just now got the money to pay for the request, so there's not yet a result of the "inquiry" as you put it. The news is that a student managed to get $1,800 in the first place to proceed with the records request.

Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

Innocent until proven guilty. Have known this man for years and would never believe him to be a danger to anyone. I hope the facts come out in his favor and that many of these "accusations" were simply exaggerated. I am not suggesting not to check into it...simply saying don't throw stones at what could yet be an innocent man. He was never anything but wonderful to the kids of my class, and also was close to our parents, thus nothing shady or inappropriate.
Plan to pray for him and his family.
Please don't judge until we know for sure. For anyone.

Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

Did he ever touch anyone inappropriately?

So far, this sounds like an overly caring principal. I've heard quite a bit of reactions from students that call him just that.

I'll never be so quick to judge things as the Pitch clearly is.

Re: “KU student overcomes $1,800 bill for open records request seeking information between professor and Koch Industries

I know who paid the $1,800.

George Soros.

I wonder where he got the money? Could it be from the US free market capitalistic economic system? Could it be that he funds just as many liberal causes as the Koch brothers do for conservative causes? Could it be? Could it be that the Koch brothers aren't the bogey men you think they are? Could it be that the liberal billionaires ARE BILLIONAIRES because they made money in a capitalistic system?

Wake up liberals. It's always "I've made my money, now let's change the system so you can't make yours," with the liberal elite. They want to f-you as much as the conservatives.

Wake up. Please. And realize you are talking out of your ass when you criticize the Kochs.

Re: “KU student overcomes $1,800 bill for open records request seeking information between professor and Koch Industries

Good for her. One of the major campaigns of the Kochs and other right leaning entities is to seed the Universities with "right minded" professors who in turn teach the Koch brand of free market, anti-regulatory ideas. If the University has nothing to hide, and we believe in academic freedom of thought, they should be more than willing to show their hands on this issue.

Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

I have known Rudy for over 45 years. He is a product of CASA (Google it) he knows what it is like to NOT have anyone to turn to. As an adult he has provided alternatives for kids in need.
This is bad?
The news media has chosen to suggest impropriety and not to applaud Rudy's generous nature. I suggest those reporting have done a superficial "news" report.

Re: “Hamburger Mary's readies for its move to midtown

I went to Hamburger Mary's once. I was really looking forward to it. I asked the waitress for a recommendation. She said, "I'm a vegan, I don't eat this stuff." Then she walked away. Much success in the new location, maybe I'll give it another try.

Re: “Debra Smith's Shifting Territory takes the textiles artist to unfamiliar places

Maybe it's not important to be concerned with what others are doing and the attention they're getting. It seems as soon as artists become the darlings of the rich and famous, (for example Jeff Koons and Richter), their creativity becomes a barren desert. Creativity is precious. It's somewhat like a child. Sometimes it's strong, but sometimes its vulnerable and fragile. It has to be protected and even somewhat isolated from the expectations of what others expect to see from you. If one looks around, its obvious how quickly and easily it can evaporate and leave once creative people with nothing more than to talk about what they once did.
You seem to question yourself a lot, which is healthy. But if you ask yourself where you're going or when you'll get there, you're already there. You're an artist creating and building works of art. That's not to say you won't get better and find still more interesting possibilities to explore and develop. Martha Argerich burst upon the music world by performing Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto. Technically it was perfect, but the next step is to turn it into music. Today she is in her 60's, very active, and has turned her playing into the production of music, art.
I look forward to seeing what you have been producing at the Haw.

Re: “Opening arguments in Missouri gay-marriage case Barrier v. Vasterling set for Thursday morning in Jackson County Court; rally planned on courthouse steps

This is indeed excellent news! If the judge follows the examples set by somewhere near 30 US District Court judges across the nation, and (thus far) three of the US Courts of Appeals (for the Fourth, Seventh, and Tenth Circuits, with the Ninth Circuit certain to be a new addition based on the manner in which the three-judge panel which heard oral arguments pertaining to the consolidated cases involving four states absolutely destroyed the arguments mounted by the states' attorneys), then Jackson County Judge Dale Youngs will be compelled to rule that Missouri's ban of gay marriage violates both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment to the US Constitution. He will doubtless look too to the decision handed down by state courts in states such as Florida, Colorado, and Louisiana for guidance relative to his decision. At this point, the same arguments have been made so convincingly that it is difficult to see how this judge could rule otherwise.

Re: “Hamburger Mary's readies for its move to midtown

Yes, as Larry Sharp said, the Bear Bust isn't over. It relocated to Industry Video Bar simply because the new Hamburger Mary's space is not conducive to continuing the event at Hamburger Mary's with the move. So we opted to move the event to Industry before the move of Mary's. But it did not end. It still is alive and well the first Saturday of every month.

Re: “A closer look at the Feds' crackdown on two KC-based predatory lenders

The "enterprise" of these people is better known as theft, plain and simple. I'm certainly glad to hear the feds are in pursuit, and hopefully aggressively, but every one of these people should face felony prosecution and decades of hard time at Leavenworth.

That's great, why doesn't the FTC do anything about the spam calls to my cell phone every day, despite the fact I am on the do not call list.
