Re: “BEST HAUNTED HOUSE

You will have more fun by far at the 3rd Street Asylum than any other commercial haunted house in KC. Why? Because the folks who work there actually TRY. They go overboard on giving you a continuous interactive experience and it's FUN and frightening. Half the price of the "big boys" under the 12th Street bridge, the "tour" inside seems just as long, and it's at least twice as entertaining. Can't wait to go back again this year and let more of my friends know about it! GO! You won't be disappointed!

Re: “Best Local Theater Company

The mystery train consistently provides, fun, a mystery challenge, laughs and great dining. This is an evening well spent and everyone, including the guests get into the evening with enthusiasm.

Re: “Best Performing Arts Group

I believe the Mystery Train is one fantastic evening of fun, a mystery challenge, and laughs. I am never disappointed with the actors or the material. The dinner is always great and this makes the entire evening a big success.

Re: “Best Graphic Design Show

I followed this graphic design show and I agree with your point of view that the mediums of graphics should be used for movie poster and other media communication as well for example in motion pictures. http://www.craftive.co.uk/logo-design/custom-logo-design/

Re: “Best "Screw You" to the Kansas State Board of Education

Theater has a big impact when it comes to convincing people, I can say that because I am professor of Media Sciences and have done a couple of courses as well. But in this case I cant really say how big impact it has created.

Re: “Best Local Actor

Simply being from Kansas City doesn't count as 'local'.

Re: “BEST ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE

What a treat to open the "Best of" issue and see Jessica Brandl as Best Artist in Residence. There have been many good ones in Kansas City over the last year, whether visiting local museums or studio sites like Charlotte Street and Studios, Inc. Two other Red Star residents, Jo Kamm and Keira Norton, currently have work on display in the new Belger Crane Yard gallery at 2011 Tracy Avenue. Both exhibits are top notch. The Artists in Residence program is a real plus for Red Star and we love keeping so much talent in Kansas City! Thanks again for the recognition,
Mo Dickens

Re: “Best Art Gallery

yes, get your distinctions right, please. Museums show but do not sell. Galleries show and sell and keep the local scene happening.

Re: “Best Place to Hear Live Music

It is hard to believe that we have completed Seven Seasons at CrossroadsKC at Grinders. It is all because of the hard work of our dedicated staff that you have shown your appreciation for the way we present live music. It is more than a business to us, it is an expression of Love for our city and the healing power of a group of people gathering to experience the Magic of Live Music. THANK YOU and get ready for Season Eight!! xoxo

Re: “BEST REASON TO LISTEN LONGER

What were the other nominees in this "D***ride the buzz" category? Very cool that they are broadcasting concerts, but c'mon now, did they not get enough free advertising in this issue?

Re: “BEST SPOKEN-WORD ACT

Thank you to Pitch Magazine for the nod in their Best of KC 2013 series. I would be completely remiss if I didn't say that I am standing on the shoulders or, or shoulder-to-shoulder with, several other phenomenal and deserving poets and spoken word artists here. I hope with this acknowledgment that this is the beginning of more recognition for my community and its viability to the Kansas City arts scene.

Rouxfully Yours <3
