As I racall Fric & Frac had a series of concerts they even closed the street to do them. were thier any complaints? Nope did the bands play the ame music YUUUUP! Well you losers now can go about living your Plaza wannabe lives the rock is gone. May something far worse like a bong shop or hip hop club take it's place.
The owner of the rock cafe is a drug dealing loser. This business is nothing but a front for his marijuana operation. He has been running drugs across the country for years. Do your homework on Jeff Gerhardt and you will find out what a low life he really is.
I live half a block away from the Rock Cafe and if I have to endure one more day of that shit I will go over there myself and destroy their PA. The music SUCKS. It's loud enough that it comes through my walls and I cannot even take a nap in my own house on a Saturday. Or hear myself THINK, for that matter. Most of the time they have bands playing ALL DAY LONG and they are the kind of bands that suck so much that they would never be able to get a gig anywhere else in town. This place is NOT a legitimate business. It needs to end.
Actually I'm the owners daughter he is not a trustfund baby anon4 you all think you know what your talking about when really none of you have given the place a chance. We have great quality food, awesome coffee, and unlike the other businesses we like to serve everyone no discrimination. It's America equal rights. The music is not that bad when a bus drives by it reaches at least 80 decibels. If you want to talk about disrespectful the lady that lives in the apartment behind the cafe blares her metal music above our music. I see no one complaining about her.
I live about 5 meters from them. I don't care about the kind of music, where the moron (anyone showing up in court in a tank top and shorts is a moron) got his money, what they serve, who they like, dislike, etc. etc. ad nauseum. Live music at +70db (I have a sound meter and have measured 100db and more at times) is unacceptable; particularly every night and every weekend.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City restaurant had its food service permit suspended Tuesday for the second time in less than a month because of repeated violations of the city’s noise ordinance.
According to a statement from the Kansas City Health Department, The Rock Café, 1603 W. 39th Street can still serve sell prepackaged, shelf-stable food, but they cannot sell anything prepared on site and/or any food that requires temperature control.
The Rock Café had its permit suspended from June 25 through June 29 because of noncompliance with the noise ordinance, at which time management agreed in writing to abide by the ordinance and ensure they would not violate it again.
According to city food code, establishments must abide by all city ordinances to maintain a food service permit.
The length of Tuesday’s suspension was not immediately clear.

the pulling of the permit has nothing to do with the food...they can pull that because he is not following the noise laws....it is a health violation because he is impeding what they call "quality of life" of people around him...that is the truth and the law
Well the music has bothered me from time to time. However They are friendly and nice, i live less than 500 feet away and i had the manager of the place a nice kid about 25 come to my door and introduce himself and ask if the noise level bothered me and to feel free to let him know... he did it every so often and then stopped... maybe someone told him not to anymore or maybe he doesn't work there anymore but everyone i have talked to is very friendly.. and i like not having to walk far to get a great cup of coffee
Well their customers don't seem to mind and they like the place... if you don't like it then just don't go there and don't talk about it...If any of the shit you were saying was true then the cops wouldn't have a problem shutting them down, you can have an opinion that's fine... but making stuff up is ridiculous Not a single employee or the owner or the customers smoke pot at all or in/ around the store.. WHY WOULD THEY? So you guys would have a reason to shut them down... yeah that makes all the sense in the world. There was One time some bum who wanted to play music around the area tried to pee and smoke something in the back alley and the manager told them to scram cause he was calling the cops... The people who work their are just that... people... trying to work and get by.
Who cares where his money comes from. The fact remains that this "cafe" is nothing more than hippies smoking marijuana and forcing awful music on residents, other business owners ans customers. I stopped in to check the place out and their menu may as well be a gas station menu.
sorry, "inheritance", not trust fund.
yeah i have to agree with that one! everyone who actually knows Jeff or the family knows how he grew up, far from a trust fund baby. we are all just laughing at the people who are making all this up, who knows what they will come up with next! probably something like " No really, i know the owner i swear he is a terrorist!"
No he doesn't live off a trust fund! and if you are saying he does and you know him that just proves you have no clue what or who your talking about. he will tell you himself.
I do not have strong feelings against the Rock Cafe, but I can only agree with the sentiment that "it is not a professional business." It appears more of a lark than a genuine commercial attempt. I am disappointed that the ownership has apparently ignored the frustrations of the neighborhood's businesses and residents. Lack of business will likely suffocate the enterprise soon, unless the owner has plenty of blank checks to rip up for fun.
Actually, he is living off a trust fund. Just sayin'. I live nearby and know the owner a little bit.
Pretty positive they haven't had a single health code violation.... and they also had the proper permits for everything they are serving. that being said it is to loud they need to be courteous because there is no way they will last in a neighborhood that doesn't want them there
some of these comments are hilarious, If the guy was a trust fund kid don't you think that he would have a way better location/ business plan? people will get glad in the same pants thet got mad in. I like the Rock cafe's desserts and the coffee is amazing, i always have friendly service and the staff is very nice! i live nearby and the music doesn't really bother me. I hope they stay around for awhile because all the other places and starbucks just doesn't cut it.
Idk anything about the rock cafe. I have walked by there and it just looked like a bunch of bums hanging out. I ate at the Kc smoke burgers place once and found it to be very odd with zero ambiance. The food at kcsb was not as good as I had expected. Fric and Frac, Po's Dumpling, Thomas, and Blue Koi are my favorites in that locale.
The best desserts and coffee anywhere! Finally, I can get a decent cup of coffee on 39th St.
Re: “Various Artists”
I like "Pickin Cotton Blues". Whoever is playing the slide guitar on it totally rules!
