Re: “Widow Shopper

I bought a grouping of WWII USAAF items from John (Jack) Angolia in 1994. He was EXPLICIT in his instructions that if I decide to sell the items that I not involve his name as the items were "given to him by the original owner's widow". I would trust his word about as far as I could throw a cheesecake underwater.

Re: “Stop the Violence ... Later

This is a real joke. We need another commission to explain all this crime. Now the City wants more money for programs. Where in the hell is the Kansas City Police Department?

Re: “Stop the Violence ... Later

This is just another boon doggle for the city.
What the heck is KCPD doing about it?
People are leaving the downtown condos / lofts due to crime.
Have we not spent enough money to solve crime? The excuse is to raise taxes for more Police Officer's so where are they? Sitting behind a desk?
Nothing is being done by the City or the Police department.

Re: “Stop the Violence ... Later

We all pay for homicides anyway. In purely financial costs, you have the cost of treating shooting victims. MAST isn't going to get any money from a 21 year old they transport who's been shot. Truman isn't going to recoup any money for his medical care and an ICU stay. PD is going to have the extra staffing for street officers and detectives to look for witnesses in the case.

This money is already being spent. It just seems like its easier financially to justify spending money on the rehabilitation side than the prevention side.

Re: “Widow Shopper

I am a militaria collector, although I have never done anything like this! I remember corresponding with this gentleman about a year or so ago, and he had numerous uniform for sale at that point in time, and they were certainly not cheap either.

Re: “Viewer Discretion Advised

Wow, I just got my tickets in the mail today! Although I did recently sign up to participate in a review group for movies, and thought this might be related to that, I did think the letter that accompanied the tickets looked suspicious. It's very generic, and upon a close second reading I see that they don't mention the TV shows themselves are new, just the "television material" - presumably all those commercials. Something about it just made me wonder if this was a cold-calling marketing pitch. What's more, the location of this event is extremely inconvenient for me, so I certainly wasn't going to go until I found more information about this group online.

And here I find this article in The Pitch! Thanks!

Re: “Oral Argument

Dr. Thomas is my doctor. Dr. Thomas has performed many successful surgeries on both myself, and my daughter. I would still recommend this oral surgeon to my closest friend or relative. Dr. Thomas is a wonderful DOCTOR. He is a very caring doctor, and a wonderful surgeon. His work ethic is impeccable, and he has the kindest bed-side manner that I have ever witnessed.
If I could speak to him right now, I would say to Dr. Thomas "Keep your chin up, and smile, as your patients, and peers know the truth." Steven Thomas is not only great guy, but also a wonderful Doctor!

Re: “Liberty for All

I have been following the rumors of potential private development in Penn Valley Park with great interest.... and angst. I spent my formative childhood years in that park, have loved it for 57 subsequent years, and am currently writing a history of the area, which I hope to publish.

The very thought that any part of George Kessler's magnificent contribution to Kansas City might be appropriated for private gain is appalling, reinforcing my well-developed and wholly justified disgust with "developers," those cretins who care not a whit for the public good. They represent the same mentality as the "mossbacks" at the turn of the previous century who saw no need for parks or green space when the same land could be used to make money.

August Meyer and George Kessler must be rolling in their graves. Please, Kansas City, don't let the nose of this camel under your tent. This land is ours, not theirs.
