Bill, people take things too seriously and you bring humor into this chaotic world of ours. These people do amazing work. Several of them are art teachers or professors themselves but they also welcome beginners. Nice story and congrats to this group on one year of weekly outdoor painting sessions across the city.
I remember hearing rumors in the early 1970s (when i first moved to KC) that the city wanted The Jewel Box and all other similar establishments shut down before the 76 Republican National Convention rolled into town.
I saw this play Saturday and while I appreciate the acting skills of all involved, I couldn't help but ask, why must we always have the same poor, Black and ghetto scenario. If heartbreak is the theme, we can do that with middle-upper class Blacks and tieir stories. I just kept asking "why" throughout the play. Maybe I should write my own story :)
