Over rated! Atmosphere of a banquet hall, fried chicken was mediocre at best, pulled pork was pretty good. Overall the restuarant was dirty, the xxx hot sauce bottle on the table was all sticky and messy and there were paper towels all over the bathroom floor at 1:15PM on a Saturday. Makes me wonder of anyone in the kitchen has clean hands.....yeeech!
if i hear one more moron rave about tiramisu I think I'll puke.....kind of like someone raving about cornbread........
I hope you're not going soft, Charles, on critiquing restaurants and food and restaurateurs. Something in this seems to possibly suggest you aren't being fully honest--scathing--if required. Naturally, hope I'm wrong.
I dont understand all the love of this place. Prices went up to support the new location and food quality and quantity went down. Service was the worst!!!! 6 - 10 employess on the floor and we were the only table in the place at noon on the Plaza. Does this say something about the direction this place is headed?? I used to love Bo Lings for years but not anymore. I voiced some concerens about my meal to one of the owners Rebecca Ng only to have her argue with me. I wont go back. I will stick with the chain restaurants.
Baklava from Michigan is a good thing, lets hope it's from Shatila in Dearborn.
Jamaica, the Mexican agua fresca, is made from the same hibiscus flower. It may lower blood pressure, but is hardly an aphrodisiac.
Roach Motel in the power and white district.
gross!
Applebee's? Only if you take the long way around.
How do you have a job? The fact that you compare braised snails to bruschetta shows how little you actually know about food. It is blatantly obvious that you have something against pig and finch from your two horrific articles, which you try to pass off as legitimate reviews. Maybe you should look up the definition of the word review and drop all your flowery writing. The only thing I found useful from your articles is the secret love affair you have with Rye. Which is a completely different concept. Didn't your mother teach you not to compare and contrast opposites? I think you missed that in English 101... Possibly. Pig and Finch has across the board ratings of 4 plus stars on all media sites. As a loyal .customer I am appalled at your attack on the now local owned monopoly chain. You should probably keep your refined taste and opinion to that of McDonald's Mr. Feruzza because you wouldn't know a good food if it rained down on you.
We recently moved to Maryland (and moved back to Lawrence again) and I can attest that the crabcakes at Intorno were as good as the best I ordered in Maryland.
The only word that I can think of for the Ossobuco is heaven on a plate. We have yet to eat a dish that disappoints. Tiramisu and peanut butter pies are divine. Wait staff still need some work - especially at the bar. But over the last few months, the wait staff has improved. Phenomenal place - check it out.
right across the street from the over priced, pretentious Mess-tizo.
Toasted ravioli are Appalachian? That's a new one. Every account I've ever seen or heard says toasted ravioli originated in St. Louiis.
You have sold me on the crab cakes alone and tempting me with the tiramisu-sambuca, huh? May have to check this one out.
Yes it is about time the owner moved his business interests out of the goddamned ghetto... I would never risk my life go to the Blue Stem. Now that he has a respectable address, respectable people will show up. I presume they'll seat poorly dressed patrons and the blacks in the back (or not at all), as is typical at Leawood Town Center.
Hey veggiehead, why don't you refuse to eat and hold your breath until they put a vegetarian dish on the menu????? please please please! then we'll one less self important vegan whining that they can't find restaurants that cater to their every whim......
Well, clearly this review was well received. The silence is deafening.
If you want a legit gastropub, and a template for something that works...look into the offerings from chicago: Longman & Eagle, Owen and Engine, The Gage
Re: “The Golden Ox: still no bull”
I love to travel and especially find unique places to enjoy a decent and perhaps a memorable meal, however I do enjoy a smoke with my meal and was wondering if I could do so at your establishment, It seems like I can no longer spend decadent amounts of money in our once great country to just simply enjoy a meal and a smoke, please fill me in because I am willing to travel the 600 miles from Wi. if it is a possibility,
sincerely Bryan Kirnbauer 262-496-0956
