Thanks for taking a break from In-A-Tub to try another restaurant in the same parking lot, Charles! I know from experience, it's tough to tear yourself away from those tacos...
I need to eat here soon. Not to rub it in since foodnsob lives in an Indian restaurant desert, but it will be nice to have an option so close to Parkville that doesn't involve Zona Rosa.
My husband and I just got food-to-go from this charming little hidden gem up in the Northland. The veggie samosas are BIG and yummy. And yes, Swaggat is bigger, with nicer decor and a very large dining area that is a bit more inviting for people who actually want sit and stay for a while. But the tables were still dressed nicely with lots of clean glass and white tablecloths. My cauliflower-and-potato dish was very, very yummy. Perfectly spiced at the 'medium' level, not overly seasoned (thankfully not overly salted to please the American palate), and very filling (I have plenty leftover for lunch tomorrow!!). The garlic naan bread is also equally tantalizing to the tongue and the perfect eating utincle (just scoop the food and shovel into mouth). We also had the pleasure of meeting the above-mentioned Christina. She made EXCELLENT suggestions on vegetarian dishes and even the spice level, and she was spot-on with everything. I really hope to see this little place thrive. The location is a bit hidden, off the beaten path if you will. The key for them will be great advertising and offering delivery to all of the local hotels near the hotel.
finally a place serving great eff'ing pizza. they'll work out the bugs (marsala dish) and will rock out a killer menu.
Come on. Get some Keralan/ Goan places here. That Punjabi stuff gets old. The TexMex of Indian food.
Darn-it-I live around the old Red Bridge Shopping Center and there isn't an Indian restaurant for miles-I'm dying for a good one to move into my neck of the woods and here there are two together up there-just not fair! I've been to Zona Rosa only a handful of times but if I get to the neighborhood I'll have to see if I can find it! Thanks for the recommendation.
Ugh.. Don't go yo this place... Terrible , and scary ...
Mio is a wonderful and much needed addition to the KC dining scene. It is exquisite and one of a kind. What my husband and I like the most about it is that it reminds us of when we lived in Europe; at Mio you receive a personal, un-rushed dining experience. Any other restaurant in KC just herds their customers in and out quickly, but at Mio you are given time to enjoy you meal and soak in the entire experience. The staff is knowledgable and attentive whithout being bothersome. The menu selection is unlike anything else in the area. We highly recommend Mio!
Big big fan of woodsweather cafe ... I'm very curious about the new location ;)
I have tried almost every item on the menu and have not found one i wouldn't order again. Mio's Linguine bolognese it perfect and unlike any other pasta served in KC. The smaller restaurant makes the dinning experience more intimate, and the chef and owner has visited my table every time i have come to thank me for my support. This is by far the best new restaurant in Kansas and Missouri.
I did appreciate the simple menu, but that's where it ended. The wine list is not very good and the service was pushy. I went with my family and our server brought us items we just said we liked, but never ordered. When asked about the wine list, we had a bottle open already, he asked what I thought about this wine that was around $110/bottle. I said it was nice. Next thing I know he's opened it and is pouring it out. The food wasn't bad, but not memorable either.
For this area of town, it's a great addition. I wouldn't get too aggressive and move downtown where there is more competition. The dining room isn't comfortable, I wanted to eat and run. If he does want to open downtown, I'd suggest a new concept or a more imaginative menu and wine list.
So upset I missed this event. Everything I heard about it sounded delicious!
Def. interested in trying one of the Reubens now.
Didn't like it at all. Way to crowded, not enough waitresses and food was cool, not even warm. Will never eat there again.
One of the best Rubens I have ever had! Everything there is really good!
Charles, I can almost taste one of those Ruebens now.....
Not one comment??? Interesting.
who ever wrote this article is a jerk. if it were a christian restaurant you wouldn't have said so many disrespectful things. your "been-there-done-that" attitude is obnoxious. when it comes to spirituality, have you "been-there-done-that"? I doubt it. you're insulting, to say the least, my good sir.
FYI: The joint has closed, apparently changed ownership. Will re-open soon but I forgot what the sign on the door said the new name would be.
Dang sounds like we have met, you really know me. It's easy to judge when you remain anonymous, but really hard to mind your own business. Should I judge you on ease of you jumping in?
Re: “Monetti's Taste of Italy gives Lee's Summit a Brooklyn flavor”
What a joke. Warrensburg was so sick of Giuliano and his fake "New Yawk" shtick he had to go to bland city to sling his flavorless paste at the suburbanites. Give it time Charles, and you'll soon grow sick of his obnoxious voice braying at startled diners. You'll grow weary of young "family" servers who have clearly received about 10 minutes of training. You'll wonder how something so simple as a red or white sauce could be so devoid of flavor. It sounds like they are trying a little harder up there. For now. Just give it some time.
