Re: “Summit Grill & Bar replaces Waldo's Remedy with a better tonic

The food is great. I loved the chicken fried chicken. It is 10.00 and you will be stuffed. Gravy, taters, you bet babayyy!!!

I have eaten there 3 times, really good. The Pot Roast sliders kick butt too.

We've been through this Skinny. It's not a chain. Since when is a two restaurant operation owned by two guys who live in KC a chain? I live in waking distance and have had many fantastic meals here.

Chains usually won't last in our little Waldo neighborhood.

Sounds good, if a bit pricey. Eighteen bucks for fish and chips?

Re: “Hungry bowlers can find a few good things at Pinstripes

We had a company party at this location a day after this review came out. The food was really top notch, as were the bar items we consumed many of. The service, however was hit and miss at best. The server, when he was around, was on point, but spent most of the night....somewhere else. I was also disappointed with the bowling aspect of the whole thing. I knew better than to expect that to be the focus, but when our 25 year old lane equipment broke down 3 times in 2 hours of bowling that put a chilly mood on our party. As did the horribly tended-to approaches, which were caked with dirt and sticky-stuff. If you're looking for quality bowling, look elsewhere but for a good all around option for corporate or large group entertainment without breaking the bank Pinstripes is a great choice.

Re: “The Golden Ox goes to pasture, JJ's returns, and more restaurants open and close

Got dragged to Swagger by a restaurant owning friend who wanted to check it out. Holy shit. Over half the beers & half the food on the menu was "We're outta that". We ordered different food & neither one of us ate even half our food. We fled ASAP. Horrible! It was right up there with that bar on Chouteau that sold $1 Natty Lite drafts & $1 ribs on Monday nights. Boiled ribs in Liquid Smoke & bbq sauce. At least we got our money's worth in that dump.

Oh, someone forgot to mention the Perron's in Centerview, MO closed. It had the best hamburgers in the region.

Someone forgot to mention JAX seafood restaurant. It is to die for...freshest seafood on the plaza. So fresh, it seems like it was just caught in Brush Creek!

Re: “The Des Moines arcade Up-Down is set to replace Hamburger Mary's

what a slap in the overly made up face of all the tgurls at Bunburglar Mary's. They are being replaced by an arcade from IOWA. Oh SLAP!

I seriously doubt you went to Swagger more than once or twice Charles. It suffered less from terrible service and more from Waldo plebes who couldn't swing with its lack of pretense.

And it was sad that LC's Burgers at I-29 near Barry Road burned. I hear they aren't reopening. They really had some good burgers!

Re: “At the American, Michael Corvino perfectly balances ambition and formality

Let's each of us save our nickels and try to go to the American once or twice a season - let's not have it go the way of The Golden Ox and find ourselves lamenting that we didn't support it!

When is Charles going to do a review of the sandwich section at Quik Trip? I'm on pins and needles waiting for his next culinary critique.

Re: “Hungry bowlers can find a few good things at Pinstripes

I've never had a bad plate (or cardboard container) of food at a bowling alley.

From patty melts to phillys, it's all good. I still shed a tear over Laurel Lanes in Raytown closing down. Thursdays were 'Mexican Mania' day, and you could get a bomb-ass burrito platter fit for a king.

It sounds like Pinstripes has taken the typical bowling alley menu to the next level.

Interesting.....

charlie fezzuzzararaa getting an a+ at fact checking as always. Still curious why he don't got the james beard award for culinary journalism at least 63 times.

Pinstripers on the plaza is most definitely still in existence
