Re: “Is iPho Tower Asian? French? Both-ish

Anything that Spike and his team put on the plate is bound to be amazing. His heart and soul goes into his cooking, if you can't see that then McDonalds is right down the road. It is so refreshing to know that Spike always has fresh ingredients and his dishes are always consistant. My family and I have been going to his restaurants every since he opened both locations. I crave the Pho no matter the season. I encourage those who like adventure to go see Spike and his family, you won't be disappointed!

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

I stopped liking Blanc as well. This place gets more and more expensive, and the quality degrades, with every visit. All burgers are a 1/3 pound grind. For $12-$14 and a few shoddy ingredients, and your side (fries) not even included is insane. I feel shafted everytime I go here.

It's a sub par burger that they liven up with a few unique ingredients. Nick and Jakes is opening on the Plaza. You can get a 1/2 lb fresh ground burger that puts Blanc to shame that includes fries (regular or sweet potato) for about $10.

I enjoy local establishments and prefer to support them. The problem is, local KC establishments have this trend of thinking they've become something they aren't and end up driving themselves in the ground.

Close to Saki Asian is Sakae Sushi, which is getting fantastic reviews.

Get over it people....the place SUCKS! I've been there more than a handful of times and I've always been disappointed.

BRGR is better - assuming you're one of those people cool with spending $13 on a burger and fries.

Corner Cocktail all day long.

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

I came into this article expecting three things:
1. Charles Ferruzza to speak negatively of Ernesto Peralta.
2. Negative reviews of the food, followed by a smattering of positive commentary, and finishing negatively.
3. Some mention of Pete Peterman.

Like Meatloaf said, "2 out of 3 ain't bad."

This menu is identical to the one out at Mission Farms. I actually really disliked the change to the Kobe burger. It used to have carmelized onions and was my favorite thing there. When I tried it's most recent incarnation, I found it too smoky, to the point of being unpleasant. Perhaps they've worked out the kinks. The BBQ one was too rich for me. Sometimes more is just more.

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

I generally concur with your assessment. A former favorite, my wife and I have been underwhelmed the last few times we've been there, especially from the amount of times we found ourselves reaching for the salt shaker. Some proper seasoning would take many of their menu's offerings to a better level. The Au Poivre and the Dark Truth are my favorite burgers, while the truffle fries (admittedly greasy) and the cheese curds are my favorite sides. I'd be perfectly content if the rest of the menu didn't exist.

"I'm no purist, but sometimes a cheeseburger should just be a cheeseburger." Thank you. This reason, along with the fact that I haven't heard a good thing about them, is why I don't go to this restaurant anymore. When I want a cheeseburger, I want a cheeseburger; not a meatloaf covered in every condiment available. I agree that they need to concentrate on making a good, normal burger instead of a shitty burger covered in more shit.

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

Said it a thousand times BLANC BURGER SUCKS! Who is attracted to a cross-dressing burger? It is what it is, a piece of beef between bread, do not over complicate it, do not make it something it is not. You take crappy beef, put it on a bad bun, and mask it in terrible toppings.

Give me a McGonigles patty on FTM Bread with mustard, ketchup, pickles, and onion, possibly a tomato and you've got a burger I'll pay $20 for.

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

I love the truffle fries; that's what keeps me coming back and suffering through the burger. For a burger joint, Blanc has an overwhelmingly awful menu of burgers to choose from. My go-to is the Au Poivre, which admittedly, is simply the least bad and most stomachable; I'll give the Dark Truth BBQ Burger a shot next time. I could do without the onion ring though. Part of Blanc's problem is the lack of attention to making a good burger, and all the attention on making a 'unique' burger; stop throwing all that shit on there and just make a solid burger.

The atmosphere at the new location is cold. I'm shuffled to my pretty uncomfortable seat and just feel awkward. Plus parking in Westport? Don't get me started; at least at the Plaza there was that big garage right there to park in. There are fewer and fewer reasons to go to Blanc anymore. Those truffle fries are all that keep me coming back every once in a while.

Best burger I had there was a Daily Grind, and unfortunately, as a Daily Grind, it was a one time thing. Though I did implore the manager to make that burger a staple of the menu. He at least did mention the burger menu was being overhauled; thank god.

I hope there's a sign or a plaque somewhere inside that states that if MGE employees had done their jobs and followed simple procedures, then no deaths or injuries would have occurred. Let's make sure that no one forgets the price of this preventable carelessness and idiocy. Megan Cramer ought to be alive right now.
