Re: “Alex Pope's Local Pig offers Westport a choice cut

I wish they kept the pork tenderloin sandwich from the old Preservation Market menu, it was literally the best sandwich I'd ever had.

Re: “Chef Joe Shirley takes over the Kansas City Club's kitchen

Dear Tainty - the average Pitch reader couldn't afford to park at the KC Club, and generally has to dig under the cushions of their sofa's to get spare change enough to go to happy hour at Grinders in the Crossroads. Who the F want's to belong to any club that would let any one "average" join or participate.......least of all an "average Pitch reader?"

Re: “Alex Pope's Local Pig offers Westport a choice cut

abe - blasphemer - anyone who disagrees with Charlie Feruzski's reviews and opinions of one of his "favs" will get his ip address blocked and flamed by Slobby Dave and that goof that looks like Wayne Newton's evil twin. Good luck with being honest on the Pitch website!

Twas Delicious. There is a pickle cocktail that I have to get now every single time. Can't go wrong with sips and apps. Go charcuterie plate!

Re: “Alex Pope's Local Pig offers Westport a choice cut

I would like to try this place again, I just hope whomever was cooking for them in February is gone because my first 2 experiences here were awful.

First time I got the cheesesteak mac and cheese. It was cooked through, but ice cold. It was as if they had it in the fridge and didn't bother warming it up before serving.

Second time, my burger was raw. Not medium rare, or rare (which is BS anyways since all ground beef should be cooked to 160F). It was straight up raw. The waitress was gagging at sight of it. Unfortunately they didn't bother to fix me a new one after showing her, they just took it off the bill.

I know you all just consider me a Pitch comment section troll, but this place really could have been something special considering how excellent Local Pig East Bottoms and Pigwich are. I hope they've got some better line cooks since February. Instead it was the worst 2 dining out experiences I've had in KC. Maybe all the focus was being put towards Cleaver and Cork

Nice to know, but when will the average Pitch reader get to eat there?

Re: “Jimmy Frantze's new J.J.'s is just that — an original

I could have sworn it was called J.J. Malane's-- or J.J.Malang's--- was it really Malones? I worked there for a few months in the early 80's, too. Wow. My brain must really be fading, huh? I live in Santa Fe, NM now and haven't been in J.J's for at least 18-20 years, but recognized the proprietor, Jimmy Frantze, last night in town here-- while dining out on Canyon Rd. He sure seems like a friendly guy. You almost can't help but like him (earring and all). Always has a genuine look of happiness in his eyes-- and smile ;)

Maggie - wouldn't you really rather have a conversation with someone who thinks you're interesting - or at least fakes it? Bacon flavored bs doesn't impress me - save your breathe for those easily impressed with your bacon recipes or your boobs - if you had any imagination you'd have moved on from the so called "bacon craze" when it went out of style 2 years ago.

Re: “Bacon & Bourbon's six bartenders share their recipes ahead of the big night

Thanks for the recipes - now I can go to local pig buy some bacon, make a blt and sip a Blanton's single barrel - saving the entrance fee and more importantly - saving me from having to be around dumbash hipsters who think putting bacon on everything is the coolest thing since go go boots. I wonder how many selfies will get posted from this "event".

Re: “Looking for that Far East slurping staple? Go west (a little) to Ramen Bowls

When will Charles do a review of the salad bar and soup selections at Cosentino's downtown? Until he tells me his opinion I just won't be able to know what to select. I'm anxiously waiting for him to review a can of Campbell's tomato soup.

Re: “Looking for that Far East slurping staple? Go west (a little) to Ramen Bowls

Mr. Feruzza has evolved over the years into about the only real critic writing about any medium in this area. His reviews always instruct and always give a straightforward evaluation of the subject. I wish we had more fine, well written reviews for other subjects in this city, whether through Pitch, Star, or other publications.

Re: “Looking for that Far East slurping staple? Go west (a little) to Ramen Bowls

We don't have soba noodles, or tea but the tonkatsu noodles and miso noodles are just as addictive. I've worked there for about 8 months and I still can't wait to sit down to a bowl of pork broth, miso noodles, and a couple slices of the seared pork belly most days.
