Re: “Arris' Pizza brings Jeff City — and gyros — to Lenexa

Every piece of pizza should have meat on it if you ordered it with meat. 25% without meat is not good. Why do you need to custom order crust? Chains usually don't roll in this town.

If you want to eat gyro meat, go to Mr Gyros!

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

sweeping generalizations by Zman and Foodsnob to denigrate those they disagree with - or those that disagree with Charles F. Why the hate? Not every business is going to be loved by everyone - that doesn't make the people that don't like it Rednecks, willing to accept any crap, too busy, locked in a 4 block zone around their house, etc. etc. There are a number of posts on here that agree and disagree with Charles F - I see no issue with that - it's an open forum. But, for you two, who try to come off as educated, sophisticated and worldly, you two are failing miserably.

looks like FOODSNOB has his panties in wad. maybe he's just mad that he can't afford to live in Johnson County because he partied too much at KU, couldn't handle the job market competition and can't a job as good as daddy. don't be a hater FOODSNOB, the nice folks in JoCo are the folks who contribute to the charities around town that folks like you couldn't get by without.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

HonestAbby & AnonBoy-the reason being that you can pretty much pass any kind of crap off in Johnson County and they lap it up and consider it fab and the latest thing! Mainly because they NEVER leave a 4 block area in Johnson County to eat-their lives are too busy!!! Who am I?! Born and raised in Johnson County. I eat around a lot, Charles is usually right. And, I could give a shit what he thinks of me.

Re: “Arris' Pizza brings Jeff City — and gyros — to Lenexa

I consider myself a "foodie" and my stomach line will point this out. I tried this place and I was totally dissapointed. My friend and I ordered a pizza with gyro meat. tomatos and onions. The pizza dough tasted and had a feel of pita bread (Check menu). The menu tells you to order crust how you like, we noticed this when we looked at the menu after recieving pizza. The owner says here that they are meat heavy not true. The pizza we had had 9 pieces of gyro meat, 12 pieces of pizza. So 25% of pizza did not have the toppings that are advertised.

I will try Arris one more time because I always give restaurants two times to fail. I am not holding out much for this one though. What a disappointment!

Poor ZeemanB - he has to call other people redneck to feel good about himself. Maybe he can go in with Charles F. for a group discount on psychological counseling to overcome his hatred for anyone that doesn't agree with him.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

Charles typically rags on any restaurant in Johnson County, I'm sure there is an underlying family issue requiring professional counseling . Look at the bright side, there are only about 50 readers of his reviews anyway so he doesn't swing public opinion one inch.

Re: “Can a hit restaurant's kid sister survive growing pains?

I ate there recently, just to see if it was going to be any better than the other location. Nope. The potatoes in my massaman curry were raw. The server kept referring to my boyfriend's daughter as "he" even after being told she is a girl and even though we had both ordered spicy food, we didn't get refills on drinks even after asking for them. The door on the front was right by our table and it was FREEZING every time someone came in that way. "Please use other door" would be a great idea since the host/ess desk is at the other entry.

Used to go to Piccadilly Cafeteria with my dad. They had great baked cod and their carrot salad was awesome! I think it was a bit too expensive especially if you threw in dessert.

Holy shit. Maybe you stupid rednecks will work your way up to taking Paw, Maw, Half Pint and Grampy Sir out for orange roughy when someone else jumps on the shitty concept bandwagon and busts out some Picadilly Cafeteria.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

Hey look, I don't know where you poor rednecks take Half Pint, Maw and Daddy Sir out for vittles after one of your Froggy-Went-a-Courtin' revival meetings down at the river by where the willows weep, nor do I care. BUT I for one don't need Charles to tell me that the big comeback of goddamn coconut chicken has the same appeal as waxing nostalgic about repressed memories starring Uncle "Chicken in My Pocket". It's just a bad concept. Deal with it. Who am I? I'm the guy who knows a lot more than you do about dining in this town. So maybe a word of thanks from you bozos for weighing in on these issues before you jump back on Yelp and yap about "where I done went and 'et today!".

My time is incredibly valuable, so you're welcome.

Zeemanb, Ramblinfarms, Foodboob...all three of these non-anons (they use their real names to post!) are all Chas F jock-sniffers.

Oh look, Charles' friends (Zeemanb and Ramblinfarms) are doing what they are accusing others of doing: Praising without specifics! Nor does it seem they have even been to the restaurant! Sad.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

Wow, did Artego Pizza loan out all the family and friend anonymous reviewers from their writeup to come in here and provide blind praise and incredibly non-specific rebuttals to a thorough, accurate review or what? Way to go anons!

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

I love the trolls on here slamming Charles because he did his job. Catch a clue morons. As a restaurant reviewer, Charles' job is to review restaurants. If you disagree with him, and can offer specifics based on first hand experience, that's fine. Some of the comments did exactly that and were worth the read. But the ad hominum attacks are childish and make you sound like spoiled children having a little temper tantrum.

Frankly, I find Charles' reviews to be accurate and spot on, based on my personal experience dining in the restaurants he has reviewed. But really the bottom line here, and as someone involved in and supportive of the restaurant scene in the Metro I am sure Charles would agree, is try it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

Thank you Charles for your very to-the-point, and truthful review. I moved into the prairie fire apartments while waiting to build my house, and have had nothing but bad experiences at every single establishment here. From overpriced meals that lack any sort of effort from the staff, management or kitchen to the understaffed and overrated cinetopia experience. I am always amazed at how people flock here like it is the best thing since sliced bread, when in reality it is collectively the worst retail launch I have ever seen. I cannot think of a collection of business that are so uniformly poorly managed. I can't expect that any of the business will last that long without serious change.

Re: “Prairiefire's Paradise Diner gets only the wrong stuff right

I'll take heat for mentioning Yelp here. But I do think the preponderance of votes, flawed as they are, says something valid about a dining experience. Well, Yelp shows 29 reviews, and a 3 1/2 star overall rating, which wouldn't be too shabby except: the individual ratings run from 1 star to 5 stars. This is often a consequence of very irregular service and/or food. A bad thing, right? And sometimes there are very favorable ratings which might be pumped up ratings by employees or owner's family members, as well as low ratings by people who have an axe to grind. The ratings of this place tend to run low, even excluding fluffers and haters. I wouldn't consider going to a place when other more consistently rated places are available nearby. I haven't eaten here. But my bet is that Charles isn't far off the mark.
