Re: “Jimmy Frantze unveils plans for a new JJ's Restaurant on the Plaza

Maybe name the bar after Megan?

V's Italiano named their bar after Dave Smith, a long-time regular that passed away from cancer several years back.

The plaque reads "The Dave Smith memorial 'Are You Rockin?' Bar, after one of Dave's favorite sayings.

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

It all sounds pretty gross. Sad result for an originally cool Kansas City creation. Maybe the operators should throw in the towel and accept what they've done to the concept; smothered it to death in pretension and ineptitude... and Gouda.

Their new strategy is let's feed em crap so they have a heart attack on the way home and then they can't write anything critical on any blog sites. Classy!

Re: “Back in Westport, Blanc still piles it on — not always for the better

How sharper than a serpent's tooth! Seriously, Charles,, was there anything you liked? Are the fries still truffle fries which are overwhelmed by the truffle oil? We were vastly underwhelmed by Blanc on the Plaza and I don't feel a real strong pull to visit the Westport location after reading this review!

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles elevates the proletarian patty

hey jackopff- if you like greasy limp fries because you think having local suppliers make them more appealing you must love failing schools, high murder rates, crumbling infrastructure, the airport the way it's been for 40 years and a billion dollar trolley car that goes around in a 4 mile circle. Keep on you hip urbanite - I bet you live in a poorly insulated overpriced condo in downtown KC Mo and pay for parking and the 'right' to crappy city services.

The snobs in OP are laughing at you everyday - and hoping like hell you never move into their neighborhood!

Re: “Blanc Burgers & Bottles elevates the proletarian patty

I read a comment from another site post stating that Blanc is unhealthy and they're fries were limp. Let me explain something to the Overland Park s uburbanite snobs that complain that their fries were greasy and Limp. If you are counting calories, don't dine in a burger restaurant. How do b You expect your French fries to be crisp when b they are drizzled in truffle butter? Is McDonalds unhealthy when you convince yourself that the "all white meat" is actually good for you're ADD kid that you slam with sugar all day long? Any idea what processed meat is? Blanc has a unique concept that they buy their products from LOCAL farmers markets including, meat, dairy and produce. All the owners are hands on every day and strive to make this concept work. Ifyou want to count your calories, go to Whole Foods and buy a $20 lettuce wrap for God's sake ! Leave a concept like Blanc alone. Go complain about your spoiled kid, the neighbor watch out for non- white people in your area

Re: “Sawasdee runs out to greet you but doesn't have much to say yet

I don't think so. I think their foods are really tasty. I have been there so many time .. Never disappointed even once. I'm surprise if you can find any other quality restaurant in this price range.

Re: “OP's Masalas is reborn — with a much bigger menu

The worst food, service, and overall experience I had eating Indian. But don't take my word for it - http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/34/762760/restaurant/Kansas-City/Masalas-Authentic-Indian-Bistro-Overland-Park#posts or check out many of their one-starred YELP reviews.

Re: “Baked in Kansas City is almost too much of some good things

I discovered Baked a couple of weeks ago and have been there twice (brunch and dinner) and take-out once (lunch and pastries). I love this kind of a restaurant: casual yet professional, high quality ingredients, innovative items, good desserts. The veggie burger on the lunch menu was wonderful (it is often my barometer for a restaurant - it can be boring and dry). Theirs was delicious and creative. Portabella mushroom with wonderfully flavored roasted butternut squash. The same veggies reappeared on the brunch veggie eggs Benedict. Both dishes excellent. The mussel appetizer broth was creamy with onion, capers and kalamata olives. I wanted to lick the bowl, but scooped as much as I could with their yummy bread. As I said, good food, nice vibe - a wonderful neighborhood addition.

That pot pie is definitely worth $20.... I got it last time I was there, a few weeks ago, and I burned my mouth because it was so delicious I couldn't wait for it to cool down

Re: “Westside Local is finally as good as its fans have always insisted it was

I had one of my worst Kansas City restaurant experiences at Westside Local when it first opened. I have since become a big fan and it is always on my short list of great places to dine.

Last time I was there, the fries were frozen... Maybe that's changed?
