Ugh.. Don't go yo this place... Terrible , and scary ...
Mio is a wonderful and much needed addition to the KC dining scene. It is exquisite and one of a kind. What my husband and I like the most about it is that it reminds us of when we lived in Europe; at Mio you receive a personal, un-rushed dining experience. Any other restaurant in KC just herds their customers in and out quickly, but at Mio you are given time to enjoy you meal and soak in the entire experience. The staff is knowledgable and attentive whithout being bothersome. The menu selection is unlike anything else in the area. We highly recommend Mio!
Big big fan of woodsweather cafe ... I'm very curious about the new location ;)
I have tried almost every item on the menu and have not found one i wouldn't order again. Mio's Linguine bolognese it perfect and unlike any other pasta served in KC. The smaller restaurant makes the dinning experience more intimate, and the chef and owner has visited my table every time i have come to thank me for my support. This is by far the best new restaurant in Kansas and Missouri.
I did appreciate the simple menu, but that's where it ended. The wine list is not very good and the service was pushy. I went with my family and our server brought us items we just said we liked, but never ordered. When asked about the wine list, we had a bottle open already, he asked what I thought about this wine that was around $110/bottle. I said it was nice. Next thing I know he's opened it and is pouring it out. The food wasn't bad, but not memorable either.
For this area of town, it's a great addition. I wouldn't get too aggressive and move downtown where there is more competition. The dining room isn't comfortable, I wanted to eat and run. If he does want to open downtown, I'd suggest a new concept or a more imaginative menu and wine list.
enjoy seeing novelty architecture like this. Reminds me of the Cabazon Dinosaurs in California.
So upset I missed this event. Everything I heard about it sounded delicious!
Def. interested in trying one of the Reubens now.
Didn't like it at all. Way to crowded, not enough waitresses and food was cool, not even warm. Will never eat there again.
One of the best Rubens I have ever had! Everything there is really good!
Charles, I can almost taste one of those Ruebens now.....
Not one comment??? Interesting.
who ever wrote this article is a jerk. if it were a christian restaurant you wouldn't have said so many disrespectful things. your "been-there-done-that" attitude is obnoxious. when it comes to spirituality, have you "been-there-done-that"? I doubt it. you're insulting, to say the least, my good sir.
FYI: The joint has closed, apparently changed ownership. Will re-open soon but I forgot what the sign on the door said the new name would be.
Dang sounds like we have met, you really know me. It's easy to judge when you remain anonymous, but really hard to mind your own business. Should I judge you on ease of you jumping in?
Must be great to be so self serving and deranged that you can mistake a complete disregard for your family, employees, investors and customers for the delusion that you are living a life to be proud of on your deathbed.
You know I'm just a hac(half-ass-cook) that grew up on the east side of kansas city with no training, never claimed to be a chef just a cook. I'm just cooking crappy Kansas City food I grew up with at a reasonable price. You have definitely out classed me socially, economically and with culture. I salute you. You remind me of Dave Eckard, another story. I do have to get back to the kitchen I'm you-tubing on how to boil water, I keep burning the darn thing.
P.S. - some of the crappiest food I've eaten has been at celebrity chef's restaurants.
I may be irrelevant to you but I am not irrelevant to the restauranteurs whom I regularly patronize. I spend about $1,000/month dining out. I have no problem with making reservations, I always do. I love prix fixe menus, in fact I think we need more restaurants that offer prix fixe every day not just on special occasions. Most people value my restaurant recommendations because I've eaten at so many all over the US and the world. I used to own a successful travel agency for 10 years. I got to travel anywhere/anytime first class - for free. Stay in luxury hotels - for free. Drive luxury rental cars - for free. So what did I spend my money on? Good restaurants. In Paris, Rome, Brussels, London, Munich, Strasbourg, Lima, Rio, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipai, Bangkok, New York, LA, Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, etc, etc. You name it, I've been there and eaten at the best. (And the not so good either - you can't know good if you dont know so so or bad). Again, I say, stop bitching and get in the kitchen!
Re: “Saffron could be a winner if the spice is right”
Darn-it-I live around the old Red Bridge Shopping Center and there isn't an Indian restaurant for miles-I'm dying for a good one to move into my neck of the woods and here there are two together up there-just not fair! I've been to Zona Rosa only a handful of times but if I get to the neighborhood I'll have to see if I can find it! Thanks for the recommendation.
