Re: “Why was Mike Sanders so eager to get Brittany Burke a Jackson County paycheck?

Considering all of the **** that the city is doing, I'm surprised more people haven't cracked.

Re: “Why was Mike Sanders so eager to get Brittany Burke a Jackson County paycheck?

Platte County politics are far shadier than this!! County government sends secret emails to private developers (discovered through Missouri Sunshine Law), a P&Z director in the hands of developers, and a single lone commissioner, Jason Brown, uses his "power" to over ride 14 unanimous "no" votes on a massive scale housing development hearing...and behold! 95% of his campaign contributors are from the building and banking industry! And so is the financing bank for the muti million dollar development. Shocker.

It seems pretty obvious to me why he wanted to bring her on board.

Re: “It takes more than green to improve Kansas City’s public spaces — seeing red helps

Many of us work to keep this park drug free, bottles, syringes, prostitution and late night illicit activities.
We work closely with Central Patrol, what happened in 2009 was fabulous for its day, this is 2015 the fountain hasn't work in 15 years .The pool had health issues thst closed it down ,even made the news.
Perhaps this group should stop turning on people and turn to each other for positive solutions. Stop tearing people down.

This group did very little that what wasnt already in the pipeline, since 2009 multiple people step up kn a day basis, where is this group now in 2015,not solving problems but creating problems.

Re: “Was WyCo's Hollywood Casino Grant Fund defrauded?

What I find most interesting is that when you click on the posters names of the only ones griping or attacking Ann ( Jedi, concerned, or dude) the system refuses to allow you to see anything about them! So do you all work for The Pitch or are you part of some other political group trying to get her out of office? I find these trolls more interesting than the article!

So the person who submitted a bid on the things she would do doesn't know what things she's supposed to do. My brain hurts.

Re: “KCK got a pile of federal cash to invest in its downtown. Most of it went into a money-pit hotel

It's not surprising that KCK/BPU politics are corrupt, everyone that has came in and roared about "change" in the Unified Government or BPU has been swiftly converted to become another tool of the good ol' boy network.

Re: “Unpacking the FTC's payday-lending settlement with Tim Coppinger and Ted Rowland

Pierce...."I don't think anyone would complain if small loans were made at a reasonable rate of return which reflected the credit risk to people in need who understood the terms and conditions of loan". Really? Exactly who is it that will determine what is and isnt reasonable as well as determine whether someone really understands the terms and conditions? Do most people understand the terms and conditions on their extended warranty, credit card, car loan, or ACA health insurance plan? Exactly where does personal responsibility fit into your equation or do you just assume everyone is too helpless and stupid to function without the help of some government entity? Do we really need to dumb everything down to the level of putting a sticker on a space heater saying "dont place in bathtub" or on fast food saying "food may make you fat"??? At some point we really need to sit back and let Darwinism take over to help thin out the herd because this is becoming quite embarrassing.

Re: “Was WyCo's Hollywood Casino Grant Fund defrauded?

It's bizarre to think that Ann doesn't see the problem with this situation. An elected official believes that anyone should be able to apply for a grant using someone else's Non-profit Tax ID #. And doing so without giving the NPO even an inkling of a heads up..... What!!??

'Murguia says she's "stunned" that the Parks Foundation sent the money back.'

'"I really don't know who made a mistake," Murguia says. "Or if a mistake was even made."'

Yes, Ann, a mistake was made. :-/

Buttered popcorn sales should be outlawed. The Feds should make it illegal. It's fattening and unhealthy. Consumers are unable to eat buttered popcorn responsibly. Same goes for pizzza and...

Re: “Unpacking the FTC's payday-lending settlement with Tim Coppinger and Ted Rowland

moveon: I don't think anyone would complain if small loans were made at a reasonable rate of return which reflected the credit risk to people in need who understood the terms and conditions of loan. But you and I both know that isn't what was happening with Coppinger, Rowland, Kimball, the Tuckers, Zanone, Zwillenberg etc., etc.. The internet lenders were paying between $90 to $120 per lead for a $200 loan. It doesn't take an actuary for figure out the internet lending model existed for the sole purpose of lending money to people who had no chance of repaying the loan without incurring multiple additional refinance fees, roll-over fees, and other fees and interests resulting in an effective interest rate in excess of 1000%. Save your bullshit story about internet payday guys just helping the little guys for people who either have no clue what was really happening, or who are motivated to ignore the obvious fact these guys are immoral dirt bags. Ironically, with judgments against him exceeding $50 million, one of Kansas City's biggest and brashest payday lenders just might need that $200.00 you're wiling to lend him.

Re: “Trouble in Shangri-La

I received a set of beads from chuck while incarcerated in MO DOC that were supposedly blessed by the Dali Lama himself (chuck is on the board somehow and DID help Buddhism become recognized as a religion in MO DOC). Since out my dog has ripped them to shreds. I always had the sense Chuck was not the real deal--kind of an angry guy.
