Re: “Can anyone revive Kansas' decimated Democratic Party?

Well, I feel Paul Davis lost partially because there was a Libertarian candidate in the field that usually helps the Republican candidate or at least in this case did. Another problem is that when the stripper was mentioned the Democratic Party of Kansas acted like they had just seen a deer in their headlights. I for one think that someone needs to be running ground work for these candidates and let the public know when someone had lost an empathetic chip when they are surrounded by as I like to joke: more money than God!!

I don't necessarily disagree with the author's summary but he lets the voter off the hook.

Re: “Can anyone revive Kansas' decimated Democratic Party?

Brownback won because he was heavily backed by Right to Life. Most Western Kansas voters voted for Brownback because of Right to Life. They didn't like him but voted for the cause. Paul Davis was for abortion and that is not what most religious voters wanted. Right to Life heavily promoted Brownback in Western Kansas. Governors race was decided on this issue.

Re: “Can anyone revive Kansas' decimated Democratic Party?

As a delegate at Washington Days, I was not "pleased" with many of the things that happened. However, my only comment is directed to the above author. We may have some differences of opinion, we have different approaches to the "problem" in the Governor's office, BUT WE MUST WORK TOGETHER INSTEAD OF FIGHTING BETWEEN OURSELVES. That is what makes us a RED state because we keep pointing fingers to the past and not working forward. I want to work with Larry to make this a United Party. Can we get East and West, North and South to WORK TOGETHER? Massive posts like the above do nothing but help build the fighting. WORK TOGETHER PLEASE !!!

Re: “Can anyone revive Kansas' decimated Democratic Party?

Confession: I had a little inner strife with the usage of "decimated" in the headline ... not just at the "Don't you mean 'devastated'?" level, but in the sense that it implies someone else did it to them.

The Dems' condition seems rather to be the result of self-inflicted damage, much of which is based in being bizarrely out of touch with actual people in Kansas. It is not hard to fathom how failure could descend on a party "led" by Joan Wagnon (guffaw!), which bet its whole stack on a cardboard cut-out like Davis and an odd-duck like Orman (oops! forgot he was an "Independent"), and which seems incapable of grasping the possibility that the vast majority of Kansas who are not union-member teachers might think that tenure needed to go.

If the Kansas Democrats can't win against Brownback, is there really any reason for them to go on trying, at all?

Re: “Can anyone revive Kansas' decimated Democratic Party?

....bwaaaa Kansas voters know what so many other US voters are finding out. Dems are inept lying fools. Sebelius proved how stupid she was to us when she was governor, she proved to the world how stupid she was when she got promoted to the Obummer Cabinet. Any wonder why the party is floundering in Kansas and elsewhere.

Re: “A local penny stock gets pinched by the SEC

DO NOT INVEST WITH THESE FOOLS! Troy has a history of taking peoples money and blowing it, then when push comes to shove when you want to sell your units, they hardly make good on signed contracts, and you're forced to get the courts involved. Look up APT through case net and see all the breach of contract lawsuits that have been filed.

Re: “Your unofficial Big 12 tournament program

Way to go Iowa State - great season, great win in the Big 12 and now on to the big dance. I can't wait to see Wichita State and KU, presuming of course that KU makes it that far. Self has been running from a home and away series with Wichita for years - now he can't run anymore. Kentucky must be salivating to see KU in it's bracket. Let's all hope for KU's sake they don't get to that match up. They could lose by 50.

No more democrats. We need some people to crack down on crime and willing to fix our roads and parks and sidewalks.

Re: “Bradyn Fuksa flees a theft charge and disappears in Wyoming

I have watched this a couple of times, I feel for his family so much, the not knowing is the hardest thing in the world, it is strange that he locked everything up and went to the trouble of getting his tyre fixed. I am wondering if he owed money to someone and was asked to meet them, as he stole from his dad and work prior to going missing. I think they should keep searching in the surrounding area. I hope he is found, my son is a couple of years younger and it must be devastating, thinking of them all.

Truth - the article says KSU swept their meetings with Oklahoma, not KU.

Re: “Your unofficial Big 12 tournament program

Um, the team sponsored by Carling Black Label beer, Oklahoma, beat KU, so KU didn't "sweep their meetings" this year. Oops!

Re: “Brookridge development hopeful Chris Curtin at least hired the right consultant

Turn it into a city park ---something along the lines of Loose Park in KC or even Central Park in NY. With an aquarium and a zoo. Seems a shame to drown it in concrete. Its a beautiful area.

Re: “Brookridge development hopeful Chris Curtin at least hired the right consultant

Dont destroy one of Overland Parks original establishments from the 1950's ! The golf course is absolutely beautiful and should remain as a landmark for Overland Park. We dont need any more retail, theatres or anything else! Go do something with Metcalf South! they have only talked of that for over 10 years!

Re: “Former employees say Missouri Department of Transportation leaders preyed on older workers

I think what people fail to realize is the Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and Workers of MoDot are not held accountable for their actions. We have managers that treat their employees unfair and they sue. Who pays? Tax payers. Engineers that design or have poor deciscions on maintenance activities. Who pays? Tax payers. Supervisors that allow their employees to do little or no work for their wage. Who pays? Tax payers. Until we have checks and balances in place at Modot to make the ones pay out of their pockets for their poor behavior or practices , we the tax payers, will continue to pay the price . We will continue to see our roads and bridges deteriorate. I think the organazation needs a complete makeover starting at the top down to the supervisors running the buildings. If you don't have good leaders then you wont have good followers. I work for MoDot and I see money wasted every day. So I say no to any type of increase in revenue for them to waste. Been with the company for twenty years. Just say no!!

Re: “KCK got a pile of federal cash to invest in its downtown. Most of it went into a money-pit hotel

Hey A.J. Quigley - if you were an employee of the UG in KCK, why would you present findings/research/evidence to the Mayor of Kansas City, Missouri (Kay Barnes). Your comments smell of cow dung!
