Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

America's Pub WAS the problem child. What's racist about that fact?

Puuuuhlease.....enough with the non-stop racisim comments. Everyone has really grown tired of it. Actually try articulating an argument without the need for using that word, makes you appear more intelligent.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

@hate you, @riverride42: I absolutely agree. Why the author thought it would be appropriate to write that section with racial undertones is beyond me, and placing this section at the beginning sets the rest of the article up as not just a story about the recent developmental and economic success of Westport, but also a celebration of gentrification. The author could have easily wrote the bit about America's Pub differently, and that's why some people commenting here are being critical of the way the author chose to make those racialized connections.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

@ Hate You- Yep, my thoughts exactly. And the people who disliked your status are probably white folk who think they are not racist because they are "color blind" (which in its self is a form of racial privilege) or don't see the connection because coded language/narratives don't register as racism because it is not overt.

@hate you - Disgusting? Maybe, but it's the absolute indisputable truth.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

Wow, just wow. "One suspects that 2 Chainz will not be a mainstay of the loudspeakers here."

This connection between black culture with violence in Westport in the early 00's (and more importantly, it's expulsion from the area with the peace and 'maturity' of predominately white gentrification) is disgusting.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

@a_beer_bar?:
What you claim will happen will not happen. Just like Bier Station, the bottle shop will focus on local food/beer pairings and will aim toward a different crowd. Tap prices will encourage people to stay in the bar rather than buy a bottle and smash it on the sidewalk. We're talking premium clients who are willing to pay extra cash for an experience, not grab-bag prices aimed at drunks.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

The city needs to step-in and provide some better basic services. I was down in Westport this past Saturday and in many places the street lighting is poor. There is also the need for more automated electronic cross-walks as I saw several pedestrians almost nailed by oncoming speeding cars with no desire to yield to someone in the middle of the street. Someone will be hit and killed very soon.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

Great article David.

I like how the changes in Westport have happened somewhat organically - no master plan put in place by some out of town developer. This is all being done by established restauranteurs who love KC and have more than a financial stake in its success.

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

A bar that sells bottles to go in Westport? Not such a good idea...here is what WILL happen....within a month or so the people running this beer bar will be in the media when the drunks left in Westport after 10 pm take those bottles, drink on the street and throw the empties everywhere...besides World Market has a great selection of beers by the bottle and I will bet cheaper

Re: “That new new Westport: A party district grows up

Thats a nice write, David.

Westport has been my favorite part of town through thick and thin. It really is THE place to hear good local music. All the great eats are just a bonus, and in the past few years, I have noticed Westport teeming with crowds (well-behaved, for the most part) on really nice days.

Seeing healthy growth around always puts me in a cheery mood!

Re: “As questions linger about Missouri's shadowy lethal-injection protocol, the state is days away from killing another inmate

I do not know what the fuss is all about We could do this for free The state has police dept all over the state with property rooms full of heroin Just mix up about 10 times as much as is needed for death and send them off They will die happy and there will not be any argument over were the drugs come from. Plus it is cheap and gets rid of unwanted drugs

The Communist Liberal Democrats stand for these things :

Anti Gun - don't like or want people to have the ability to Defend themselves in their own homes.

Anti-Death Penalty - could careless about the Victims and their Famalies, they only care about the Criminals and how they feel, that makes them Liberal Communists, "Criminal Coddlers" !!

Everything they stand for raises Taxes to support their "Illusions & Fantasies" !

Known for Coddling the Criminals even the hard core criminals !

Against the Police chasing the Criminals to catch them, before they rob, murder some one else.

Not All, but a vast Majority don't wanna work and want to be taken care of by the government, which raises Taxes.

Are for Illegals being here , Illegally, naturally !

Are for Drugs and using them, thanks to them, everybody now has to be Drug Screened prior to Employment, been that way since the middle 1980's, thanks to them.

I'm sure theres a few other things, I left out, but someone else can fill in the blanks !

Thanks for the Phony Corrupt Obamacare too , Liberals !

just wait till ya see what FATCA has in store for ya July 1st 2014, compliments of your wonderful Obama & Company !

Re: “At whose bidding has the Hickman Mills school board been operating?

4/5/2014

UPDATE to this story : the Missouri Auditors Audit found some questionable expenses taken by those school board officials, such as a Trip to Boston, the use of Rental cars, and some questions about that School board member Bonnay Mims, who just also happens to be a Missouri State legislature Representive / Liberal Democrat - in Jefferson City, as to why she only attended about 55 minutes of that 3 day Educational conference in Boston ????

what was she doin with the rest of her time ?????

and why was money used from the educational fund, meant for the kids, and used for her trip to Boston ???

the answer is in the link below, tells the story !!!!

http://www.house.mo.gov/member.aspx?distri…

She also recently Co-Sponsored an Anti Gun Bill known as House Bill 1940 / HB1940, which would take away the right of a Home Owner to legally Defend themselves, their property and their family using a legal gun in their own home !!!

and also give Criminals and thugs & degenerate gang bangers the right to file a law suit against the home owners if the thugs were shot breaking into your home.

This Bonnay Mim's Co-Sponsored a bill like that along with Missouri state representive RANDY DUNN who's as Clueless and Ignorant as Mim's is !!!

Re: “At whose bidding has the Hickman Mills school board been operating?

Sounds like "Fraud & Corruption", and thrown in a Major Conflict of Interest , and Collusion along with it !

Somebody was attempting to make money or Free something under the table, which is why they want on that board in the 1st place, for the prestiage and the power to cover things up , as usual !!!

Sounds like the FBI needs to be brought into this, if theres any Public Money involved at all.

Corruption at Board Level, typical !!!
