It still remains unopened but it is opening in the forth coming month and they're holding a meeting for volunteers on the 28th. (This Thursday) I would go personally but I'll be out of town working during that. I do plan on helping out in many ways.
It is quite stupid that it has taken this long to open this shelter when the other one wreaks and is also too small for how many careless owners just dump their pets. Also it is very sad some of the other reasons it hasn't opened were lawsuits filed against it because of the cost but prisoners incarcerated cost up to 50k a year, does that sound right? That's more than you, them and I make in a year.
I understand that we could use the money on so called "better" investments but do we truely want to leave the animals we've domesticated throughout the years to live in our homes to be put down or left hungry in the streets because they were "annoying"?

JOHNNY JO's is the BIZ. so good.
Yes, I also reckon it's 'just' a cult that's borrowed the trappings of a mainstream non-conformist Christian denomination. The leader appears to suffer from a narcissistic personality disorder (see 'Ego-mania'), his daughter from an all-consuming obsession to win back daddy's approval after letting him down by having a child out of wedlock. The do also genuinely seem to be hold apocalyptic beliefs, which is worrying - the recipe for another cult tragedy. May God protect the victims in all this unpleasantness and twisting of doctrine.
It's the booze. You can't go anywhere, do anything or talk to anyone in the tech industry these days without a drink in your hand. If you try to fake it with a soda water you may as well give up trying to have insightful conversations after the first hour, because everyone else is wasted.
It's pretty sad that an Omaha company has to come down to organize this.
"Appetite for Destruction" is my favorite RecordBar pie.
Canadian bacon, spinach, tomato, and alfredo sauce on a wafer thin crust.
Westboro can quote more of God's word from memory than 99% of Americans ever even knew existed. So you can't say they "pick and choose" verses when every other fag whorehouse masquerading as a church engage in far more picking and choosing verses that reinforce the viral widespread lie that God loves them and that it's OK to keep sinning away and flipping Him off.
Also, in reply to a previous comment about praying for people to die, those are called imprecatory prayers, as described in Psalm 109. They are prayers for God's curses to rain down on a class of grievous sinners, even praying that God would kill them and wipe their filth off this planet.
How's about the simple fact that this is a limited audience anyway?
I know I am not the only person who thinks that basketball is almost as dull as Kraske's radio show.
This has been going on for way too long. I'm not on either side of this debate. I'm personal friends with Mike Elrod, Samantha Fish, Shinetop, gharett and Greg shawberg. This is only because of the blues society we once had. I was even reunited with an old school friend named Danielle schnebelen! I had not seen her for over 13 years till I met her at a KCBS event at BB's one night. In my late teens, early 20's I would volunteer every chance I could. From the blues and jazz fest, the kck street festival, the Mardi Gras pub crawl, and many events hosted by KCBS at BB's. I really miss those days. I have tried several times to contact someone to.volunteer over the past several years and have had no response. I feel very saddened by the downsizing of the society over the past several years. The society is supposed to be about community, friends, bands, and having fun. Also it was about educating blues in the schools, promoting the bands, and blues clubs. This was to keep the music alive. I do not hear much of this anymore. 😢 It should not be about politics, finger blaming, or even a downsized elite social club. It should be about the people supported by the society. I saw this go down hill when our last great KCBS president died. I wish it could be back to those days. And not worrying about funds or who pays them, or even how much is being made. Its not about that. Its about community and being one big happy family.
to Andrew....nothing can drop a restaurant rating faster than one with idiot parents......it's not the snotty nosed kids fault their parents are complete turdbags......I purposely stay away from "family" restaurants during normal dinner times and ask to be sat away from children in other restaurants. I ate in the bar at the Capital Grille once because the only table they had was near a family with 3 small kids.
Waldo Pizza used to be better. Now it's just a place where they allow people's kids to run around wild in the bar, and everyone is just supposed to deal with it. There are too many better pizza places around for me to keep putting up with that.
She's whack. It's typical for American people who've never experienced true tragedy and violent anger to jump on the bandwagon of someone like this. Yea, let her babysit your children and she can bludgeon them when they misbehave. She's the same as the columbine boys, the aurora shooters and the boy who killed all those innocent school children. Open your eyes, you pathetic bleeding hearts, she's scary as hell. And, "Guest", if Horwitz does leave his wife for her, his wife will be lucky. All of these people in this scenario are ridiculous and deserve each other.
I think Sarpino's should have been on this list. Yes they are a chain, but they make a great pie. The topping varieties are amazing. This is starting to become my go to place for pizza.
Im surprised sarpinos wasn't added either...they have delivery, and an ridiculous amount of topping varieties. It may be a chain, but they still make everything there by hand! good stuff!
Having a Boyfriend does NOT make a woman "single" Thanks for the crappy attempt & wasting 5 min of my life. Next time you have mind blowing Idea hold it in till your head explodes...
You are probably not aware of the newest Pizza Place in town, the Pizza Co. in Lee's Summit. It's Neapolitan style, every one made to order, and Chef Alex is CIA trained!
yottara- of course the treasurer is giving a statement at the meeting. Why do the people who make comments on here not use their real names? What are you afraid of or hiding? I know who the guy is who is bitching about the "two little white girls". He's the same guy who is always saying shit like that. If that guy had any game or put out a good product- well, people might like his stuff. Sad really... Use your real names kids...
About time. Will the treasurer give a report at the March 19 meeting? Perhaps the members could share ideas for budgeting / plan for the next year's harmonies.
Joe and his ho's posted the last three years financial statements on the KCBS website. When Joe took office, the previous year's profit/loss statement reported a loss of 18,450 dollars. Joe's first year, the year he came in and CLEANED HOUSE, reported a loss of 450 dollars. So... there goes the "he's up to no good" theory. Don't get duped by what you read. David- you should have done due diligence
Re: “Paradise Locker Meats puts heritage pigs at the center of local butchery's future”
Excellent. Great to read about folks we've come to know and love over the past several years. Paradise Locker is where I learned you don't have to spend Whole Foods money every week to switch from the megamart meat case to far more delicious, sustainable meats from an actual local butcher. Great people who know their products and will engage you in conversation about any and all of them, creating what my wife refers to as the "Trimble vortex" when I come home two hours later than planned. Literally one of my favorite places in the world, and I highly encourage a visit if you haven't been there. A package of some shoulder bacon, spicy smoked kielbasa, country style ribs, and ask them what steak you should get that day...and you'll have a good idea what they're all about. And did I mention the Fantasma's know how to party?!?!?
