Re: “Talking with the Pedaljets about the new album that may be their best

The new album lives up to all the accolades. Well done, gents - and it's also great to see the name Danny Alexander as the interviewer/journalist. He's one of KC's finest music writers, and his work has been greatly missed.

Re: “Hospital Ships are on the move — literally and figuratively

Shame that groups still feel the need to move out of the area. You'd think that Appleseed Cast would have shown everyone that it doesn't matter where you're based out of if you tour enough and get your music out there through the internet. Oh well, the scene isn't very supportive or expansive so I can't blame them. I'm just tired of losing talented musicians to Austin, Portland and Brooklyn. Probably similar story in a lot of cities though.

Great interview. Jordan's a great guy. I wish HS all the success they can handle.

Re: “Streetside: Kanrocksas hits the self-destruct button

This is stupid but interesting. Just because 2011 fell well short of anticipated sales, it was a fun and good festival, it did come out of nowhere and could have been a building block to establish something. I thought the reasoning for no 2012 show was the construction at the Legends. They always said they'd be back for 2013 (article does not articulate this). So, they had to knock it out of the park in 2013 to establish credibility. They did not. It would have been nice for KC to have a yearly event like this.

Re: “Streetside: Kanrocksas hits the self-destruct button

Dancefestopia Music Festival... electronic like Kanrocksas, hip-hop like Kanrocksas, 40+ local artists unlike Kanrocksas, but no mention in the article? It's a Kansas City music festival. http://Dancefestopia.com for reference

At least you guys are only charging $10 to see Everclear, Sponge, Live and Filter. Was Better Than Ezra not available?

Re: “Hot Club of Cowtown singer and violinist — and KC native — Elana James on her band's latest, Rendezvous in Rhythm

What makes me cringe is this quote. "I think this creepy obsession with new, new, new, personal 'I wrote it' stuff is a kind of plague on American traditional music". Huh? This is disrespectful to those who write original roots music. There's nothing wrong with doing standards but does she have to insult those who are forging their own path and choosing to write their own music?

Re: “Hot Club of Cowtown singer and violinist — and KC native — Elana James on her band's latest, Rendezvous in Rhythm

@William

Delta blues? ...no. Pokey Lafarge mostly plays western swing, with elements of hot jazz and blues, and is infatuated with Steinbeck. I thought it was analagous to this interview because Elana said that "Our music basically sounds like if you were out driving in Texas during the late 1930s" which would be right in LaFarge's wheelhouse. His band also dresses up in the style of that time period
