Re: “The Pitch fall guide to music

You're seriously going to include Slipknot and Limp Bizkit but no mention of Big Gigantic or Airborne Toxic Event? Or is this your recommended list? Either way, WTF?

Re: “Mike Doughty's Soul Coughing demons still haunt him

So sad that I never got to see SC live but yeah, Mike seems to me just like a few of my highly artistic and highly addicted friends that I spent my twenties with and I never really let those people into my thirties... Too much drama...

Jason Isbell is going to be with Willie and Alison Krauss. Saw him in St Louis earlier this year and he put on a wonderful show.

Bollywood comes from India.

Balinese music comes from Indonesia.

Those are not the same thing.

Re: “DJ Rice

Terrible wedding DJ!! My daughter's wedding was at an upscale venue. He was given a list of music and schedule a month before the wedding. My husband and I spent the entire evening telling him what to do. He never announced the bride and groom cutting the cake until it was over, he announced the bride and groom when the wedding party was entering. We had to start the slideshow over twice because he never announced it. He does not understand the flow of a reception! Don't waste your money!!

Re: “Scruffy and the Janitors give more to get more

Teriq,

Here is the lesson to be taken from all of this - watch what you say, especially when talking to a reporter. I can talk for 10 days about how much i love bananas and then briefly mention how I throw my own poop and guess what they are going to print in the article. Unfortunately, no one is going to know my love of the yellow tropical fruit. Also, possibly invest in a dictionary to look up the word "contradict". To say that St. Joe "kind of sucks" but then to say you love it doesn't exactly add up. My whole point is that to say St. Joe sucks is insulting to the people of St. Joe. If by the "town itself" you mean the buildings and streets in St. Joe then I would agree with you and so would my car after hitting all of the potholes in the streets this morning. But to separate the town from it's people is hard. The people are what make this town, good or bad. Next time you're on stage in St. Joe try yelling "St. Joe sucks!" and see what kind of reaction you get. If you truly love St. Joe, saying the town sucks is probably not the best way to get that point across. I'm just suggesting to choose your words a little more wisely. I like the music of SATJ, but as you move further in your musical career, which I hope is a long and prosperous one, please think before you speak in an interview. Now, where can a guy get a good banana split in this town??

Re: “Scruffy and the Janitors give more to get more

Teriq Newton shared a link.
6 minutes ago near Saint Joseph, MO
I want to nip this in the bud right now. At the end of this article there is a quote attributed to me about St. Joe. I have already received a little flack for it.

"St. Jo kind of sucks," he says. "The music scene is great, for what it is — it's close-knit and supportive — but the town itself, I don't know. It's so slow and such a small town, and our music is angry because we want more out of life. There's nothing to do there apart from go to shows and go bowling. And we want more than that."

I talked to this lady for 10 whole minutes about St. Joseph, and how I feel about the town. Everything I told her got boiled down to one measly quote.

This is how I feel about St. Joe:

music scene=great
the town itself=not so great

Anyone who knows me knows that I don't hate St. Joe. I love it and want to make it better. Brian J. Myers can vouch for me. All of our release shows are in St. Joe FIRST. We play here all the time, I haul all of my PA equipment down to the Gazebo twice a year, run it, and play, all for free because I want there to be more cool shit going on in this town.

This is the town that birthed us, literally and figuratively. We were all born and raised here. So, go read the article. And if you really want to know about St. Joe and my thoughts on it. I would love to discuss it with you any time. Just let me know.

Thought I would share since there seems to be a lot of miscommunication on the matter.

Nice. The porchfest is going to be awesome. I live in the neighborhood, and it's a welcome offering (especially opposed to the beer/drunk fest that is going on this weekend in KC). I don't know where the curmudgeonly posters are getting their info as I've heard nothing but great things. Should be a ton of fun!

Love the porchfest concept. I'll be there! What a great idea.
