Kansas City is lucky to have Relapse artists Locrian choose to play KC. They haven't toured in two years and KC is one of only three cities they are playing this time around. This will be a very special show.
David Cook's local band Axium played at the Hurricane, but broke up in 2006. He won American Idol in 2008, which was the year the Riot Room opened. It's pretty obvious that he was referring to the location, not the venue in the interview cited.
Really enjoyed that Electric Indian release when I wrote about it last year.

Don't forget Electric Needle Room playing nothing but songs about the Presidents at One More Cup in Waldo at 4pm Saturday, February 16th. Happy Presidents Day!
I used to work at Dave's Stagecoach with John Yuelkenbeck. He was the only reason that jukebox was so outstanding. He and the music made that crusty little dive bar the hangout of choice for so many of the regulars.
Don't look in just bars... I think almost every Winsteads has one, and Chubby's on Broadway has the unit at every booth setup.
There's a Winstead's on Roe just north of 495 that still has a CD juke.
Love this article. Thank you. (I recall with great fondness the jukebox fun at Dave's in Westport.)
Great piece. Really enjoyed your attention to detail and your love for classic juke boxes.
Ate at Mr. Good Chicken 2/2/13. It's F'ing awesome! My new favorite chicken place. Cooked to order. Go chicken go is good but only if you catch it when its fresh. Ive had some stale chicken there - not good.
Kutty is a talented artist by all means, and leonard is no slouch for sure. D's work with Ces Cru on the Playground was phenomenal, and despite only a few discs to his name, slitz has one of those memorable voices, and his verb and word placement always mesh well. Definitely one in my top 10 for the city this year.
Kevin Lyman, not Lineman. Geez talk about lazy reporting.
Fantastic writing & editing job on this one, Pitch. Information we learned from the first 50% of this article: David Hudnall is sick, David Hudnall's car makes noise. Might as well make space on the shelf for the Pulitzer now.
Oh, was there something that happened at the art museum?
Can you share me one secret on the guitar scales. I just started to play guitar. I begin attending guitar classes few months back. Need the help!! I used to go through this website:

Thanks!!
I networked with probably 200 people....can't remember a single name however cause I was so out of my gourd hopped up on the yayo ;)
Cody Wyoming looks like a cadaver in this photo.
"Monster" was not completely overlooked; the evening's lead-off performer, Kimberley Queen, along with help from Cody Wyoming and Matt Richey, offered a tasty version of "Crush With Eyeliner."
Great show, great to be reminded why I love REM and continue to listen to their albums year after year (and yes, I started listening in 1985, I'm 43 and had Monday off to recover!) Cheers!
I was one of those teachers that had the next day off. A great way to spend a bonus weekend.
Re: “Searching for Sugar Man subject Rodriguez has found a late spotlight”
Just saw the movie, watched it with some of my children. Watched it again with my wife. Will watch it again with the rest of my children. Would love to meet the man, see him play. Would gladly drive from upstate NY to Detroit just to shake this mans hand. I admire him greatly.
