Re: “Best Car Wash

Why would you waste silver quarters worth $2 a pop, in a car wash?

Re: “Best "Screw You" to the Kansas State Board of Education

Theater has a big impact when it comes to convincing people, I can say that because I am professor of Media Sciences and have done a couple of courses as well. But in this case I cant really say how big impact it has created.

Re: “Best Tattoo Artist

Congratulations to Danny for a well-deserved honor. All the artists at Exile are truly excellent.

Re: “BEST DIAPER DUDE

Who voted on this??? Mr. IBB(Itsy Bitsy Bums) Mark Flores is the real deal! Diaper Daisy has gone down hill a bit since Teeny Greeny is no longer there.

Re: “Best Dentist

You have got to be kidding me. Dr Katie Watson is the WORST DENTIST EVER!!!!! How do you even come up with these winners? She did work for me and my family and if the fillings didn't fall out, they were rough, cutting our tongues and we had to go back and get them redone. One, resulting in a cavity still under it and had started hurting so much, I had to have a root canal. - NOT IMPRESSED

Re: “BEST UP-AND-COMING NEIGHBORHOOD

I live in this area as well on E28th St. between Prospect & Benton. Been here 2 years and love being surrounded by these big beautiful houses, enormous Oak and Birch trees, and caring neighbors. Definitely one of KC's secret treasures!

Re: “BEST UP-AND-COMING NEIGHBORHOOD

It has truly been a wonderful neighborhood for us. We sold a house in the Armour Fields subdivision located between Wornall and Ward Parkway in the late 90s to move to a home in the Santa Fe subdivision between Benton and Prospect and it was the best decision we ever made.

Re: “BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT

I would have to agree with the above comment. How can a restaurant that can't even cook Samosas (a traditional staple in all of over India) be the best Indian restaurant in Kansas City?

Many other restaurants have tons more options on the menu like Ruchi's, Swagat, and Taj Palace.

I'm not a huge fan of the other options in the KC area but those three above would be what I'd say should have been the nominees. Makes me wonder what the criteria even is for the award...

Re: “Best Ice Cream

Best Ice Cream by far is Glace.

Best Ice Cream shop (soda fountain) is Clinton's Soda Shop on the Independence Courthouse Square. It's been there forever, and is in fact where Harry Truman got his first job!

Re: “Best Bakery

I used to eat here quite often when I had a North of the River territory when I worked in sales for Lanier. Their best pastry is the ham and cheese croissant. Their pastries are featured at The Roasterie cafe in Brookside, as well.

Re: “Best Mexican Bakery

The tamales here are off the chain! I grew up in Cuernavaca, Mexico, so I know good tamales. Elvira's has the best tamales I've had outside of Mexico, anywhere in the US. They have red salsa tamales (pork), tomatillo salsa tamales (chicken), "rajas con queso" (jalapeno slices with cheese) tamales, and strawberry (usually considered the "kids menu" tamale in Mexico).

Re: “Best Taste of Europe

You gotta add Cafe des Amis to this category at some point.

Re: “Best Taco

I've never been to Port Fonda, but I've heard it has fantastic Mexican food. Didn't it get it's start as a food truck? My favorite tacos are from a little Mexican dive called Taco Express on Independence Ave.

Re: “Best Steakhouse

I just ate at The Majestic for the first time last week, and I had what I believe was the best steak I've eaten in Kansas City. I work for Cerner, and I took a client there during the Cerner Health Conference that was held at Bartle Hall, just a few blocks south of The Majestic. It was absolutely outstanding!

Re: “Best Ribs

Great choice. However, my favorite ribs are at Smokey's BBQ in Wellsville.

No question. Great choice!

Re: “Best Place for a Romantic Dinner

I would add Cafe des Amis in Parkville. We love that place, and have dined there for several anniversary dinners over the last 10 years since we moved to KC.
