I would love to here your definition of GABACHO.... Because unless my time in Mexico and my family that were born in Mexico are false on what and where the word GABACHO came from then I think it's crap that you post it. I would rather be called a GRINGO, I would rather even be called a PINCHI GRINGO. It is equivalent to us calling you a spic. And yes me and my wife joked when my daughter was born we called her our little GABACHIC. GABACHO/SPIC together. Half white from me and half mexican from her. But that's our flesh and blood and I would knock anyone's teeth that called my wife or daughter that a spic. And she don't tolerate me being called a gabacho. But then again, I have never met any Mexican that could tell me where the word Gringo came from. I still think you should change that to Gringo, unless that changes from The Mexican to The Spic.

I can't answer for you as to why you don't translate all your terminology. But for many of us who are Mexicano, or in my case, grew up with Mexicanos, it's sometimes just a matter of practicality, to use only Espanol. In some cases, it even keeps us from having the hell slapped out of us by some secretary, female police officer, or other hard working lady, when we are overcome by outside influences, and unrestrainedly shout to each other something like "Ayyyyy.....Dios mios! Que manzanas!", or some other equally sexist bit of phrasing. Crude? Yes. But maybe in the long run, more polite. And if anyone can't look in a dictionary, and then conclude that we're not critiquing the produce at the City Market....they're not trying hard enough. La vista. El Mexicano Blanco.
I would suggest that after you say "Hola" tell the little bastards to go back to Mexico and steal from their own kind. They are pulling your leg if they tell you that they don't understand you and calling you names behind your back because they think they have outsmarted you.

Shaun, just reflect a little more about "my point". Nothing is black and white. Not all immigrants are English illiterate. Some jump on the desire to learn the language, some hide in their own for self protection. Some have PhDs and MDs...But look also in the comments to this post from "Americans" and tell me if these reflect a command of the English written language. Take some perspective.

I am sure you enjoy mexican food, nice roofs, nice laid off highways, nice lawncare, nice cleaning ladies... and the nice meat the "mexicans" slaughter and cut up for your beautiful summer parties on your deck...Pretty soon though.. their children will become your boss or your children's bosses, given the statistics. Before this happens, I suggest that you get a hold of your pompous attitude as this will be THEIR country as much as it is yours...just like this country is now "yours" after some generations when it was not....By then, you may want to migrate or and experience something that might help you grow !!
