The first thing that came to mind when I saw this article was Mario's in Westport. I used to eat one of their meatball or Italian sausage grinders just about every week when I lived close by. mmmmm
Real cutesy poo article. Their food is still gross. Grow some balls and tell it like it is. Or just keep giving positive reviews to fucking dumps because they advertise in the Pitch.
You can get a fluffer nutter at the Brick...duh!
You can get a Philly with cheez wiz at Grinder's, so it's hardly impossible--basically the place in town best known for cheesesteaks does them that way.
And Afficianado is right about the Philly roast pork. The version at DiNic's in Philadelphia is the best sandwich I've ever had.
I would kill for a good Philly style roast pork sandwich. Sharp provolone, bitter brocolli rabe and the umami of the pork is a sublime flavor profile.
For the record fluffernutters are fantastic. Fluff is a compelling competitor to jelly in the universe of peanut butter companions. In a fluffernutter, the bread doesn't get soggy. Fluff is actually a healthier choice nutritionally than jam, too. It has a somewhat different consistency and has a simpler ingredient list than the other marshmellow cremes out there, so don't knock fluff until you've tried the real thing. I buy it at the Price Chopper on Roe.
Even though it's a chain, Jason's Deli serves a pretty good muffaletta.
Since someone topped this, it's worth mentioning the ridiculous happy hour deals. The menu is solid as hell, great people in the kitchen and behind the bar. Foie gras biscuits and gravy....if you're going to do permanent damage to your body, it's one of the best options in KC at this moment in time.
I went to Tannin's one night after the KC Symphony and absolutely loved it. My group enjoyed wine and cocktails along with hors d'oeuvres. Everything was great and priced well. Will be back soon.
those who actually cook this food should be offended that they get no recognition most of these owners dont even know how to prepare these meals
I heard the review of Jasmine Thai last Friday night on the Food Critics on KCUR. I excitedly took my family there that very night hoping for some great food. Ugh. It was the worst thai/chinese food (we had a little of both) that we have had in this city (and that is not saying much).
I love to travel and especially find unique places to enjoy a decent and perhaps a memorable meal, however I do enjoy a smoke with my meal and was wondering if I could do so at your establishment, It seems like I can no longer spend decadent amounts of money in our once great country to just simply enjoy a meal and a smoke, please fill me in because I am willing to travel the 600 miles from Wi. if it is a possibility,
sincerely Bryan Kirnbauer 262-496-0956
Over rated! Atmosphere of a banquet hall, fried chicken was mediocre at best, pulled pork was pretty good. Overall the restuarant was dirty, the xxx hot sauce bottle on the table was all sticky and messy and there were paper towels all over the bathroom floor at 1:15PM on a Saturday. Makes me wonder of anyone in the kitchen has clean hands.....yeeech!
if i hear one more moron rave about tiramisu I think I'll puke.....kind of like someone raving about cornbread........
I hope you're not going soft, Charles, on critiquing restaurants and food and restaurateurs. Something in this seems to possibly suggest you aren't being fully honest--scathing--if required. Naturally, hope I'm wrong.
I dont understand all the love of this place. Prices went up to support the new location and food quality and quantity went down. Service was the worst!!!! 6 - 10 employess on the floor and we were the only table in the place at noon on the Plaza. Does this say something about the direction this place is headed?? I used to love Bo Lings for years but not anymore. I voiced some concerens about my meal to one of the owners Rebecca Ng only to have her argue with me. I wont go back. I will stick with the chain restaurants.
Baklava from Michigan is a good thing, lets hope it's from Shatila in Dearborn.
Jamaica, the Mexican agua fresca, is made from the same hibiscus flower. It may lower blood pressure, but is hardly an aphrodisiac.
Roach Motel in the power and white district.
