Re: “Streetside: Hobnobbing at the 2013 Pitch Music Awards

I have been rocking to Not a Planet's new CD for a month. Jody is their manager and got reluctantly pushed on stage by some overzealous fans (I witnessed it). However they all have worked very hard. Keep up the good work!

Props to the Grand Marquis. Very much natural performers! Caught them almost every Thursday at the Jazz on 39th and State Line.

Re: “Streetside: Hobnobbing at the 2013 Pitch Music Awards

I'm glad you enjoyed the event and from reading this, I'm actually sorry that I decided to skip it. ;-)
Oh and the 'gushing fan' is Jodie Platz and Not a Planet wouldn't be a band without her.

Re: “Schwervon moved from New York to Kansas City to reboot its career. Wait, what?

If they stay in KC long enough they will mutate into A: A boring Americana band.
or
B: A tribute band
Just kidding

Re: “Art Closet Studios draws an all-ages scene to the back of a pizza shop

The "partner" mentioned in the last paragraph is Micah Williams. He runs Open Fire, and it's a shame you didn't mention that. He works his ass off and deserves a lot more credit than was given. He's done an amazing job turning that place around.

Re: “The Lawrence Field Day Fest highlights a transitioning music scene

This was a 3 day fest, yet you only reviewed the bands from the second night. Well done?

Re: “Art Closet Studios draws an all-ages scene to the back of a pizza shop

Hi, I'm Erin from Kiosk Gallery! Art Closet Studios actually contains 2 art galleries which were not mentioned in the article: the newly opened Parallel Gallery, and our space Kiosk Gallery. We've been putting on exhibitions since September 2012. Both spaces host opening receptions for our shows on the 3rd Friday of every month. Check out our websites for more info!

Re: “Taryn Blake Miller, aka Y[our] Fri[end], is the Lawrence scene's new BFF

Some people spend their lives doing what they love, honing in on their craft, trying to make something beautiful. Thanks Taryn! Other people go to websites like the Pitch and judge people based off how they look in a picture on the Pitch. Taryn, keep up the great work! Commenters, keep rotting away in your mom's basement.

Normally I would keep to myself on such topics, however, I think there is still some room to look even more disheveled. Please try harder. It's not everyday one is featured in pitch for their contributions to society.

Re: “Taryn Blake Miller, aka Y[our] Fri[end], is the Lawrence scene's new BFF

I walked out my house one day to find some strange, barefooted girl tripping her ass off in my front yard that looked just like her. It most likely was not, but ...

Re: “Talking with the Pedaljets about the new album that may be their best

Mike Allmayer is a real nice guy---and i have been in awe of his talent since the late 80s.

Re: “Talking with the Pedaljets about the new album that may be their best

The new album lives up to all the accolades. Well done, gents - and it's also great to see the name Danny Alexander as the interviewer/journalist. He's one of KC's finest music writers, and his work has been greatly missed.

Re: “Hospital Ships are on the move — literally and figuratively

Shame that groups still feel the need to move out of the area. You'd think that Appleseed Cast would have shown everyone that it doesn't matter where you're based out of if you tour enough and get your music out there through the internet. Oh well, the scene isn't very supportive or expansive so I can't blame them. I'm just tired of losing talented musicians to Austin, Portland and Brooklyn. Probably similar story in a lot of cities though.
