Re: “Artego Pizza now open on 39th Street

I went there and I liked it immensely. I had really good food and service. The interior space is lovely. I love the Art. It speaks to the imagination of the owner. He employed a really fine local artist to make original paintings for his place. How many people do that in this town ? That approach goes to the presentation of the food as well. Beautifully presented. God is in the details. I think the above comments praising the restaurant are genuine. What is the point of all that snark ?!

Yes thank you so much for shining the light on Prospect and the good people there. Miss Ramsey is a very gracious and fine lady with a biggest heart around. She is like an Ambassador at large for the East side. I love her dearly The mac n cheeze at Jims is hands down, the best in the city. I know that is saying a lot, but it is true. At a blind tasting Jim's would win the prize. And, oh my goodness! Those Wings !!!

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

Brownback needs to get the proposed Health Care Compact passed. Then he could take money away from Medicare.

The burger at Jim's is one of the best kept secrets in town.

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

And I suppose all you complaining about Sam Brownback are the same who voted for the liar, Obama. Because the state doesn't have any money, how does that affect you in the first place? Don't know how it would affect your job if you worked for a private firm, to begin with. Is it something to do with wanting to raise taxes to support your lazy neighbor who doesn't have a job? You hate your neighbor, but yet you support the very programs that provide him hand to mouth benefits. Go to California if you think raising taxes to 11% will help YOU. As I recall, you dem's only concern yourself with your own selfish interests, not the state, nor the country. None of you have a clue. Since when is it the state's responsibility to raise taxes to support someone too lazy or stupid to get a job?

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

Throwback engineered this plan and twice Kansas has had our credit decreased under this administration. Davis hit the nail on the head and ran on this known deficit, planning to form a committee to see how we could best get us out of this mess. But Throwback continued to deny these numbers simultaneously asking us to be patient and give his plan more time to work it's magic.
Less that two weeks after the election, Throwback gives us an 'Oh my gosh, fellas, look what happened…I had no idea…' If he was in charge and had no idea of the size of this deficit what does that say about his ability to lead a state? Davis knew! And it's no surprise where the money is going to come from to cover his mistakes - from public school funds ( he wants vouchers and doesn't want public schools to be strong), Medicaid ( let 'em die - or move to another state- and decrease the excess population a la Scrooge), and highways - infrastructure ( you know- roads, plumbing the things the middle class pays for as businesses tear them up and pay no taxes). How many people have to sacrifice their education, health, and safety to live in this state at the expense of one person's egotistical needs?

Hey, as long as there are no abortions and churches continue to grow tax-free, nothing else matters in Sasnak.

Re: “Missouri plans a midnight execution of Paul Goodwin while his attorneys argue he is mentally disabled

How about all the frecks in prison for life for killing children how come there not put to death. Who do they pay off to stay off death roll. I mean I'm talking about babies and they get life or some out in 25 Years how is that fair. It's our stupid justice system. I think Nixon needs to get out and we put in someone that has a heart look at the mess he has In Ferguson. And he can't even fix that

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

The guy that wrote this blog wants everyone to work for the government. Funny how he doesn't mention that 77% of Kansans work for a company with 10 employees or less. The taxes on these companies were reduced to 0% which sparked 15,000 new businesses just last year and 50,000 new private sector jobs since 2011 and were out of recession 4 years ago while most of the country is still in it. The Kansas unemployment rate is like 4.8% which is one of the lowest in the country. I think Kansas is on the right track, it's attractive to working families and small businesses not the give me a government handout crowd.

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

Calm down with the high and mighty talk about Missouri. It's like glorifying the deep south pre-civil rights. Compare yourself to our broken and busted state if that makes you feel better inside, but when you're done, try to remind your state that those who are not white are still human. Or if your state is so eutopic, maybe you could jump off your high horse for a second and help educate your neighbor Kansans, which would be better for everyone. Educated Kansans make more money to spend shopping in Missouri.

Re: “Kansas needs $280 million very badly; here's where Gov. Sam Brownback wants it to come from

Brownback is like a cancer. And all the idiots that voted for him are the cause. The carcinogens, if you will. The cure is people that have half a brain VOTING and showing that we don't support his destructive policies. I know you're out there. And I don't care what part of the state you live in or what class you belong to, these policies do not benefit anyone in this state except for Brownback and the Koch brothers. I still have moments where it hits me that he was re-elected and the stupid just feels like a smack in the face. Don't even get me started on his stance on reproductive rights, welfare programs, or his offensive, and sometimes illegal, education policies. Get your shit together Kansas voters!!

Stop saying Kansans deserve it. A lot of us voted against him. We don't deserve it.

Welcome to BrownBackWardStan!

I feel sorry for those that thoughtfully voted against this nutjob. And for those that chose to elect him again? Well, I really hope they get what they asked for!

Re: “What does Kansas City owe the American Royal?

Livestock and horse shows are geared towards exhibitors, flat out - but that's also where the money is made for the facility as well as the show operator. Compare the Royal facility to Oklahoma City, or Columbus' facilities, and you'll see why exhibitor counts are down and revenue is declining. The Royal facility at this point is outdated and not suited to the big shows that exist elsewhere - limited stall facilities, limited rig parking, no warmup arenas - all of these things subsequently limit the reach of the show, and drive volumes down. An upgrade to the facility can bring those people back that are otherwise taking their horses to OKC, St. Louis, and Columbus. More entries = more revenue. Just like city money for an entertainment district revitalizes downtown, right?

It's ironic that the loud-voiced folks that dominate this debate would happily eliminate KC's one remaining downtown piece of agricultural heritage, but are howling preservationists when it comes to the [currently useless] Kemper facility. And what's a few million when we just spent $100 mil on a streetcar to nowhere?

As a retiree who lives on KPERS, I sure hope he keeps his greedy hands off it. I'm sure he will figure out some way to take it away though...
