It's great that the Corner is back. The food is good and the place never looked better. A little more sausage and pepper in the gravy and it would match the Corner in its golden years. But "savvy, cheery servers"? Not on our first two visits, where the items on the breakfast orders from three people were confused the first time. On the second, the waitress couldn't be bothered to take our order, then spent more time chatting with coworkers than tending her tables. It's nice to hire cool people, but they should be taught what they are there for.

Being a massive chilli head, I have eaten whole raw Bhut Jolokias, as well as Trinidad Moruga Scorpions. If a habanero or scotch bonnet is like your mouth is burning and your eyes are watering, then the Bhut Jolokia is so hot you can't breathe and a tiny demon is slowly flaying your mouth and moving its way to your esophagus. The Trinidad Moruga feels like you took molten lava, placed it in your mouth and held it for the duration, while you chew and swallow razors dipped in some sort of high concentration hydrochloric acid.
It is a searing experience, but like a heroin junkie chasing their next fix, as a chilli head I'm always up for hot food. Researchers see similar neurochemical responses in drug users and when eating chillis.

I love ghost chilis. The ghost chili salsa at Traqueros is amazing. So good, but soooo hot.
Crossfit is a trip. Having 14ish years experience with free weight and circuit training, bulk and cut, all that... lifting anything heavy in a hurry was a recipe for injury. Flipping tires, hitting things with sledgehammers and doing those fish flopping chin-ups... dunno. Seems like another Tae-bo, P90X, Insanity, Zumba craze. The weight room has been pretty static for some time, I think I'll stick to that.
I applaud anyone trying to get into shape and I'll say its fun to watch the chicks compete in the comps on ESPN.

Shame that groups still feel the need to move out of the area. You'd think that Appleseed Cast would have shown everyone that it doesn't matter where you're based out of if you tour enough and get your music out there through the internet. Oh well, the scene isn't very supportive or expansive so I can't blame them. I'm just tired of losing talented musicians to Austin, Portland and Brooklyn. Probably similar story in a lot of cities though.
