Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

So let me get this straight, a handful of people are complaining because a food critic doesn't like Taco Bell? That makes him an elitist hipster? If a food critic can't even say something critical of the food at Taco Bell without offending you, then food blogs might not be your thing.

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

Taco Bell is better than Olive Garden to be honest, but that's not the point. Sorry I didn't bother to open an account, but I'm not the one claiming a voice or integrity. Through the virtue of his profession, Mr. Ferruzza does. So when he employs a cheap shot method like comparing two foods never meant to be compared, he loses some of that integrity. Is the Succotash version much better? Maybe, but let it's merits speak for themselves instead of relying on unfair comparisons. It's like the kids in high school who have to make fun of other people to feel better about themselves.

Wouldn't that be more like poking the tires with a coat hangar?

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

You couldn't handle Succotash to begin with so have fun at the Olive Garden...

Got to love anonymous internet comments that call people out for their lack of voice and integrity!

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

Apples and oranges indeed. Paying five times as much for something as the Taco Bell version is usually guaranteed to get you better quality. And as for those little Cinnabon balls, I have to say that if they were warmer I would have loved them!

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

Succotash76, I didn't start this war, Charles did. Why he felt the need to slam something that is not only not horrific, but certainly makes much more sense for your average Kansas City resident is beyond me. It just shows a lack of voice and integrity. I'm sure your food is very high quality and tasty to boot, however the pretension that goes along with it is just not palatable. Get over yourselves. And yes, the picture of the your waffle taco looks like something that was vomited up by a heroin addict. But I'm sure glad it's organic...

Re: “Astonishingly efficient Kansas personal-care attendant bills Medicaid for 39 hours in a single day

Christy Sanders Nichols, (and tangentially David Hudnall)
How does an article on Medicaid fraud not relate to Medicaid Expansion under Obamacare? It would seem that the PPACA(Obamacare) expands a program that has been shown to contain people abusing the government program, by your own reporting, I might add. And you guys say it's not related?

So.. by your logic, people stealing from the taxpayers through a government program has no relation to the program itself. Therefore we should hold harmless the people who want to expand that program. We should turn a blind eye to the wasted taxpayer money, and never look for efficiencies within existing federal outlays.

So, which one of you works for a federal agency? You think like a government employee.

If there is abuse in the system, then there is "efficiency" in preventing that abuse. Meaning, you could reduce the federal outlay, and have no effect on service.

It's good that this Doris Betts lady was caught. However, if you know anything about statistics, she represents thousands of cases of fraud. She's just the one that got caught.

Obamacare expands Medicaid. Obamacare was written almost entirely by Democrats. It was a half way point toward single payer. But the resulting situation is somewhere between single payer and a capitalistic system. The ONLY POSSIBLE RESULT is massive fraud with government picking winners and losers, in both health care and health insurance markets. Again, this is one of thousands of cases of abuse. There's more to come.

So, let's just make Medicaid bigger. That seems like a logical solution. Right?

Sheeeesh!

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

The right wing meme of hillbilly anti-intellectualism apparently crosses the border into fast food, too: "Yee ha. You libs just think you are too good to eat corporate slop. You probably like Obamacare and Sen. McCaskill too."

Gosh durn it. I just dripped taco sauce on my Ar-15.

I love Succotash but never seem to be able to get past the BLT, it's just that good. Don't wish to ruin it for anyone else but doubt that I would be tempted by those two new offerings.

Re: “Astonishingly efficient Kansas personal-care attendant bills Medicaid for 39 hours in a single day

Jack. Your post has nothing to do with with the Providers of care and only those receiving Medicaid services. This article, as the author stated, has nothing to do with with your irrelevant rant.

You could call it Bacon and Booze if you're dying to have the Bs. But, as currently presented, it's more like Bacon and Bullshit.

Re: “Boozefish owner Maija Diethelm-Floyd is bound for France, selling her restaurant

I think shes making the right decision, I don't know her, never met her, never been to her place, but this City, and the Midwest in general is so full of themselves its pathetic !

This city has poor leadership, poor agendas, and is so corrupt it isn't funny.

Since Mayor Sly James and his Phony Goons took over,, this city has slid so far down the tubes its pathetic !!

Crime is running rampet, the Degenerate Thug gang bangers are running this city thanks to Mayor Sly James and his idealogy and ignorance !! and political correctness and refusal to go after those gangs FULL BORE !!!

In 50 years, I've seen a lotta businesses move out of KCMO to somewhere else, that's better , and better to run & operate a business !!

Good Luck to this lady, shes making the right decision !

hope she gets out before its too late !!

Re: “Developers lay out their visions for the Kansas City of tomorrow

For this Vision of the future to actually happen, 1st, were gonna have to have real City Leaders who don't play political correctness games, and Mayor Sly James isn't it !!!

2nd, going to have to get rid of the Violent degenerate Gang Banging Rats that are attempting to take over the city and destroy it with their Drugs, Drive by shootings, Car chases etc.

3rd we'll need a real Mayor (not Sly James), and a real Police Chief, and a Tough Proscuting attorney at the Jackson County Court house and Jean Peters and her staff, aren't cutting it, with their many plea deals they cut with the Degenerate criminals !

Till any of this happens, the above mentioned article is just a PIPE DREAM and nothing else !!!

Re: “Developers lay out their visions for the Kansas City of tomorrow

Start with our embarrassing airport and work your way back south. No more wasted money on 18th and Vine. Make the city inviting somehow. Where have we gone wrong and cities like Austin, Minneapolis, Denver draw creative and eclectic thinking. Change our attitude from a stockyard cowtown to a true metropolitan and open city. How can they do it and we fail miserably. Ugh. One giant suburban bore.

Re: “Saturday night, Center of the City popped off at Vandals

I was one of the organizers for this fest. Thanks for the reviews, and for coming out! Once again, just as Jody stated, eveyone has an opinion. Like it or not, thats what it is. If people have a problem with what has been reviewed, (not that i agree with everything that was said in the article) then maybe they can start their own magazine, online, or paper, then they can state whatever the fuck they want in it. Anyways, thanks for coming out, taking pictures, and taking the time reviewing our fest, instead of the other one....

Re: “Succotash takes on the Taco Bell breakfast menu

I haven't made it for breakfast yet, but those little Cinnabon thingies are available all the time so I grabbed some with my Cantina bowl. They were truly gawdawful. If the rest of the breakfast stuff is that bad - and I see no reason to expect otherwise - I'll pass, thanks anyway. I'm glad you eat that shit, Charles, so those of us who read your columns don't have to.

Those sound delish. Especially the "Local Pig maple-coffee sausage patties." Yum. I hope they reappear on the menu; I would try them.
