Re: “Stage Q&A: Vi Tran talks about his upbringing and how he raised his own Son

Mr. Tran is trying to tell the story of his current show and families stuggles and the Pitch wants to talk about that time he got his dong out on stage last year. Stay classy.

For what it's worth I've seen this production (The Butcher's Son) and it is a powerful and moving. What it lacks in costume and choreography it more than makes up with music, heart, and SUBSTANCE.

Re: “OK Go mesmerized '90s babies, and their dads, at the Riot Room

Aw, man! I love OkGo. I didn't know they were in KC. :(
Riot Room seems like an awful venue for them, though. Geez.

This was a really good write-up. Makes me wish I hadn't turned down that free ticket. ;-)

Sarah - I did try google, but I wasn't able to find anything the way I was looking. Not sure about these countless articles, but this apparently is Amazon Ashley, a very, very tall woman, not a drag queen. Not that many 7' women out there in bold wigs. A not terribly crazy question. Consider me corrected.

Re: “Judge Bryan Round is a lot like former Police Board defender Bryan Round

I was wondering the same thing about why that judge was assigned when there is obviously a conflict of interest here. Wouldn't you say? The judge was biased in this case. Time to file with the court of appeals, asap.
And yes I also saw PR campaign going on. There was a time that might have happened but not in today's world where the police get paid to lie to you. They get paid to say anything and threaten anything that will cause a person to cave in a plea to anything so they get another conviction. It is totally sick. Serve and protect is just a shiny artifact of the past !

Re: “Another poll shows Sam Brownback trails Paul Davis

If you read comments by the far right, it's just the liberal media bias that is causing Brownback problems. I'm a dem which puts me on the endangered species list in Kansas but I have voted republican before. It's unfortunate that reasoned positions and responsible government have left our state and been replaced by extremists.

Re: “Cop Donald Hubbard said he had no choice when he shot and killed firefighter Anthony Bruno last fall. That's because he'd already made some bad decisions

if anyone saw the officer in the ICU of the hospital for more than a week with a head twice its normal size, his eyeball almost swollen out of his head....you may not feel so sorry for the firefighter who decided to 1) assault a cab driver 2) flee the scene 3) resist arrest 4) assault a police officer in uniform with deadly intentions.....

It comes down to....when confronted by the police and accused of a crime in our system you submit to arrrest and please the facts in court. His wife was a lawyer as well. There IS NO room in the law for resisting and/or physicially assaulting and attempting to cause severe bodily harm to the office.

Had the drunk out of his mind firefighter had just...yelled at the cab drive for using a nasty word toward his wife, screamed a bit and WENT TO BED in the hotel room he would be a happily married man. Instead HE started this string that ended with him dead.

As a side note...to the one commenter...police do not shoot to stop or mame or wound...you pulls your weapon you discharge to kill.

"Lucy" is referred to as a Beatles cover in text. Typo in the setlist. We'll get it fixed, thanks.

Re: “Miley Cyrus dropped a lot of f-bombs and sang like a maniac last night at the Sprint Center

Since nothing parenthetical after "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" I guess I am to take it that she, much like THE BEATLES, has an original song with that title?

Re: “Another poll shows Sam Brownback trails Paul Davis

Yup, retirement is near and since I already work in KCMO it's time to make the move closer to the lake. Kansas tax rates (sales, property, income, etc) for ordinary people are gonna go through the roof, regardless of who wins the election. Especially when more and more decent wage earners abandon the state.

Re: “Ikea to open Merriam store on September 10

That has to be the ugliest box store ever. Think I will wear a short skirt and no undies and wet on some furniture. Maybe make a mini-series with similiar acts. Anyone want to co-star in my film?
