Re: “Watch this commercial for racist tourism in Missouri

I love the people calling these lies because of the Lib-ruhl agenda! Face it - there's a lot of racism in Missouri, as even these comments show. The truth hurts.

Re: “City records show Scientology is barely doing any renovation work at 1801 Grand (or they may be doing it without a permit)

Hopefully Kansas City isn't letting them skimp on anything else, like fire safety inspections? Scientology might not be using the building for people, but their organizations tend to accumulate vast amounts of decades-old paperwork that has to be stored somewhere.

I'm sure that eventually it will be amazing. Tom Valenti (Mission Gateway) is the developer. . .

I grew up in the neighborhood worked at Teresa's as a teenager(who didn't). Still will go by when intown. My kids love to go there as well. Favorite is the tenderloin the best you will ever have. I can remember making those and the onion rings hands would smell like onions for a week. Love that place so many memories

Some Freezoner said, "Here in Seattle, the building + the Ideal Org renovation cost about 8 million dollars and that all had to be raised from individual parishioners."

What he didn't mention is that after those parishioners buy the building for the "Ideal Org", they have to sign it over to CSI. And adding insult to injury, then pay rent to CSI to use the building they had just purchased. So CSI ends up with the building without spending a dime of it's own money. Some "church".

Re: “City records show Scientology is barely doing any renovation work at 1801 Grand (or they may be doing it without a permit)

It's likely they are still raising funds for the Ideal Org renovation. The central church (called Church of Scientology International or CSI) does not fund Ideal Org renovations, the local Church has to do that. All Class IV Scientology Orgs (main churches) are independently incorporated and are responsible for their own income. They are financially independent of the central church. (They do 'tithe' to CSI in some form, but I don't know the numbers.)

Here in Seattle, the building + the Ideal Org renovation cost about 8 million dollars and that all had to be raised from individual parishioners. There are only a few thousand active Scientologists in Seattle (I estimate there are around 1700ish) so this was quite a feat. It took about 18 months after the building was purchased to get all the renovation money together.

But once the money was all raised, the renovations finished in less than a year and its a pretty nice building now. Leaps and bounds better than the old org was anyway.

BTW - what you think Scientology is and what you think Scientology does is not what Scientology is or what Scientology does. Recent hatchet job documentaries notwithstanding.

According to Torn Label's FB page, the tap takeover is at the Santa Fe Peanut, not Metcalf.

Cheap decent food will bring people in. If I were about to open a place, I'd go with that.

Re: “Sufjan Stevens brought a solemn, stunning show to the Midland last night

Outstanding review. I feel like most music journalists don't really understand what he's trying to do and so the reviews lack the sensitivity to convey what's at the heart of this album and tour. Not so with this review. Thans.
