Re: “Rye is in a field by itself

$34 for a fried chicken......ha ha ha....the jokes on the morons who buy into the hype. It will be closed in 1 year, like all the other overpriced, tres cool jerkoff run restaurants that have opened there. BFD>

Re: “Rye is in a field by itself

Why did it open in Mission Farms, of all places? I can only imagine the rent must have been low because the last half-dozen restaurants there failed. Best of luck to the Garrelts, but after the novelty wears off, that is a real tough location to manage.

Re: “Rye is in a field by itself

We have been 4 times now. The front of house is getting better with consistency and understanding the menu. Food and bar wise everything is top notch. Only 1 time did the chicken wings taste a little funky and we emptied 1/3 of the hot sauce to zing it up (2 large orders). Everyone we have taken (and we agree) feel very comfortable in the space...its just relaxed.

I'm pretty sure there's a supplemental charge for that.

Re: “Boulevard has a new valentine this season: the Roasterie

They better watch out with getting lazy on the smokestack series. This is farmhouse ale and coffee. Doesn't really seem like they are trying as much as they were last year. Grainstorm was decidedly mediocre.

Re: “Cooper's Hawk swoops onto the Plaza

hey I hope they serve chicago style hot dogs, the perfect thing to pair with cheap wine......yeehaw. I guess the hillbillies strolling around the plaza window shopping need somewhere to eat too!

Re: “Cooper's Hawk swoops onto the Plaza

The trio of medallions he mentioned was excellent....even for $29. It came with wasabi mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was out of this world. I was unimpressed with the wine.

Re: “Up all night with Sosa's and Huddle House

Been to Sosa's once and probably won't go back. We went the first couple weeks after it opened and got horrible service and the food was subpar. Our regular waiter didn't seem to no anything about the menu and overall appeared to have very little experience in the service industry. I say "regular" waiter because several other people came over and kept talking to us during our meal. One was a middle aged man who appeared to be a manager or owner. He was trying very hard to be folksy but ultimately (after quizzing me about music and grabbing up a straw wrapper from our table while we ate), he felt like my dad. Another woman introduced herself as the owner and seemed nice enough. Anyway, the point is that I don't want to talk to three different people several times while I'm trying to eat. The meatloaf muffin was pretty disgusting as well. Dare I say, I miss Mama's!??!?!?

Re: “Up all night with Sosa's and Huddle House

Had Sosa's on Sunday the 27th at about 1pm. We probably missed a small rush, as indicated by our server. We were quickly seated, but the place was certainly bustling. Had breakfast - coffee was decent and I got a refill. I ordered a south of the border omelet with a side of their home made hot sauce. It was quality. Side of sliced new potatoes probably could have been a bit crispier but I'll ask for that next time. My lady got a mixed breakfast with two rather gnarly pancakes. Those were serious.

We'll be going back. We also have a buy one entree get one half off coupon to burn.

I bet if you're going to these places at 3 AM then you're drunk and probably driving. Unless you play for the Chiefs you're probably going to jail later. Good luck.

Re: “Up all night with Sosa's and Huddle House

You must be joking about Sosa's "juicy, perfectly grilled burgers." The one I got was overcooked — asked for it medium rare but it arrived medium well — and shaped more like a small football than a patty, and if that wasn't bad enough it tasted funny. I took two bites and stopped eating. I am never going back there but I'm sure they won't miss me with all the drunk and noisy patrons they'll surely get.

We used to hit The Wornall Restaurant aka Top o' the Wornall while hammered at 3am.

Good B&G's.

Re: “Up all night with Sosa's and Huddle House

I've had one Sosa's experience so far; very unremarkable. Food was average at best, order was not all there (much like our server), and confusion over wording on the menu led to being overcharged. Admittedly this happened less than a week after the place opened so I'll give them a few weeks and go back for another try. I want them to succeed.
