Re: “MMF's sixth Apocalypse Meow comes on with a roar

Its tough to make music "a viable occupation" , at least in KC. Cheers to the lucky few that can actually make that happen.

Re: “The Buhs debuts with a slew of local talent

This is a ridiculously talented ensemble. Kansas City is filled with great musicians, but this is a who's who of the local jazz scene with other genres mixed in. I've been fortunate to get to know several of them and they are all great people too. Not sure there is an ounce of ego in the group.

Also, Kudos to Natalie for getting the story. For someone new in town, you have managed to get tied into the pulse of the local music scene very quickly.

Re: “Bassnectar's Lorin Ashton on death metal, drugs and drops

Wow.... so nice to hear someone doing what they love and not being swayed into a direction they are not wanting to go. My daughter introduced me to Dub and a total favorite is Bassnectar. I hope she pursues her desires with music as you have Lorin. She is deserving and so much reminds me of what I have just read of you. Bravo! Hmmmm......I'd set you two up on a date if that was my thing... hahaha!

Re: “Samantha Fish's latest, Black Wind Howlin', strays a bit from her blues roots

The girl is incredible!

Can't wait to hear the new album. Glad to hear she's expanding the sound. I love the blues, but the majority of the blues community in KC seem to be, well, advancing in age; I am one of them. Sam capturing a younger demographic can do nothing but blow it up even more! I say all this with caution, because I've actually been shut out of a couple shows. Bigger venues await!

Congrats, Sam!
