Re: “Readers' Choice: People & Places

...it's nice to see that the 3 picks for best local comics are 2 people that live in California and 2 radio djs that never perform at clubs. Good Job!...Just so you know there are a lot of comedians that ACTUALLY live in KC and work hard. So to have those as you selections is a spit in the face of the people who live here and work hard at what they do. Not a surprise coming fro the Pitch. Descension was best metal band for 3 years in a row and they sucked...

Re: “Readers' Choice: Arts & Entertainment

Message to mike mcnalley. First off i am the bass player for the rumblejetts . I didn't vote at all as neither did my band mates. As for someone having time to sit around all day and vote for themselves goes....I take offense to that comment as all of us work 50 to 60 hrs a week. Before you spout off something, you better know what you saying and you better know who you're talkin shit about because I don't take kindly to smartasses who wanna run their mouth on an open forum about me or my bandmates. So before you're alligator mouth writes a check your ass can't cash, I would consider shutting the Fuck up . It you can talk to me about your problem in person, mike mcnalley. ..yours truly CW Hasty. Jetts bass player

Re: “Readers' Choice: Arts & Entertainment

As bass player for the rumblejetts I can honestly say that we were surprised by this and actually didn't really remember this best of pitch being announced. I personally am appreciative about it however have many more accolades in the past and present that mean alot. So for those who are hurt and obviously pissed about this .I'm sorry. The jetts didn't vote at all. As far as the dramatic uncalled for comments about other musicians just shows your immaturity as well as lack of professionalism. I've done this long enough to know your type mike mcnalley. You will never do anything musically worth while that's why this title seems so important to you. I proposed your band double bill with the rumblejetts any where any time and put your money where your pansy scenster mouth is and come on. We will give it all to charity and bill it ad a heavyweight bout. We will blow you off the stage. As in the words of jerry lee.....follow that motherfucker...Yours truly .....CW HASTY. Awaiting your acceptance if you're not too scared.

Re: “Best Scene-Uniting Retrospective

It was a wonderful show, full of color and nostalgia. Danny (and I'm not just saying this as a friend) deserves all the praise he's received and through his hard work and ridiculous creativity will see many more successes throughout his career. For those who haven't had a chance to experience Quietly Contributing, do yourself a favor and check it out before it closes. And if you see Danny, tell him "The Grinder" sent you.

Re: “Readers' Choice: Arts & Entertainment

I am not even from KC and I voted for the Rumblejetts as they are a great high energy band with Rockin tunes that we love ! We make special trips to Kc ( TWO hours) just to come up and see them! These guys deserve first place ! The whole Rockabilly scene in KC has been very welcoming and friendly ! Very close knit community that yes, support each other. Congratulation guys ! You all deserve the votes !

Re: “Best Place to Meet Dogs

C'mon, this place is a complete shithole. Make the drive to SM Park and be rewarded with a park not littered by trash and shit. Plus, they have a much more green landscape.

Re: “Best Agitator

I was curious so I did a Google search on Michael Webber. It seems that he is quite the opposite of a joke, rather a very serious and accomplished cargo industry professional. He has received quite some criticism because he does not agree with spending $360 million in taxpayer funds to support the desire of some to attract air cargo from China to St. Louis, in competition with other hubs. But, as stated by the previous commenter, most of the criticism is about Mr. Webber because he is from Kansas City, he advises a number of other locales (not just Chicago - many major hubs around the world), he is this, he is that. But very few comments which dispassionately address his point of view or bring forth facts to support the criticism of his opinion.

One wonders if this criticism is coming from people who are angry because they stand to lose fees, taxpayer incentives, subsidies and preferences or whatever because the deal will not go through. I do not detect any groundswell of support from taxpaying citizens who want this money spent on the St. Louis project.

More research on this "aerotropolis" concept makes it seem like a traveling circus in which Mr. Kasarda goes around the world promoting every city which will listen to do exactly what St. Louis is trying to do. Yet, there has not been a single one which has worked out as advertised. Seems like a snake oil pitch, to me.
