Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

Of course the kids are coming to his defense, they're getting mobile phones and cars, for crying out loud. They may not fully understand the man's true intentions. At best he's an idiot for this type of behavior. At worst, a predator who needs to be put down. And spare me the CASA connection. Predators and sexual deviants will go to great lengths to put on a charade to avoid being discovered. He got over confident and it's going to cost him.

Re: “California Pizza Kitchen on Plaza is closing on Sunday

I nominate joe jessica kirk 90xpress and dirty randy to create a wonderful restaurant for us in this space. Old charlie warly fuzzywuzzy can even be head chef so the is perfect and wins every james beard and michelin award :)

The aforementioned peeps are obviously also responsible for the minimal rent due to highwoods each month. Don't worry, it's only like $100 each I think

Re: “Kevin Yoder ridiculed in new attack ad for his naked Israel swimming party

Sorry but this is cheap shot politics and she should be ashamed of herself.

There is enough to dislike about Mr. Yoder's votes/policies without going down the nasty attack road. These sort of ads turn me off regardless of which candidate is doing them. I recently ridiculed Pat Roberts for his NRA pandering mailing. I also was turned off by the Brownback: a vote for the "liberal Lawrence lawyer" is a vote for Obama shtick.

So come on Ms. Kultala. Tell us why you are a better choice to represent the people of Kansas in Washington that Mr. Yoder would be. Tell us what your positions are on the real issues, such as spending, entitlement programs, foreign policy, military programs, the minimum wage, etc. I could care less about Mr. Yoder's au natural swim.

skinny dipping...paul davis at a strip club......who cares?

i'm a gung ho liberal and don't like yoder, but the pitch's relentless one sided hammering of politicians proves they are no better than cable news.

For those of you who won't Google it, this is what CASA is all about. To be honest with you, it doesn't surprise me one bit that Dr. Papenfhus is involved with this organization. I know for a fact that there are former students from Smithville who would have dropped out of school were it not for the love, support and attention form this one caring man. This is a witch hunt and it sickens me. I find it funny that the article says that the students call him "Pappy". Until they started the #FreePappy and their demonstrations in front of the school wearint their #FreePappy t-shirts; I have NEVER heard of a student actually calling him that. This is a brand new name that has come about because of this situation and the media just uses it as one more negative thing to sling around about the man. Shame on them!

Re: “KCTV5's Dana Wright replaces Mike Shanin on KMBZ's afternoon drive-time talk show

I am a new listener and although I'm laughing most of the time and really enjoy your topics. I don't want to be nit-picking but Dana's laugh just gets on my last nerves. She has this laugh that sounds like a smoker's kackle. It is so loud that you can tell she has to either turn her head away from the microphone or back away from it. I couldn't believe what she looks like because her harsh laugh doesn't match her pretty face. That being said, I understand you are who you are.

Re: “Forbes names Tech N9ne one of hip-hop's top earners of 2014

He called ahead to a local strip club (Bonita's) a few weeks ago saying that he would come out with his friends if they didn't charge any of them for cover or drinks. If you know anything about that bar, it's already extremely cheap.

Re: “Cop Donald Hubbard said he had no choice when he shot and killed firefighter Anthony Bruno last fall. That's because he'd already made some bad decisions

What really amazes me is that a "police officer" can lie on a report, it's proven that he lied, yet there is no consequence for this. See this in many cases where innocent people are facing serious time in jail because of a false police report filed by an "officer", then all charges dropped because it's proven to be a lie.

Try filing a false government report and getting caught, you won't get paid time off........

Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

None of know what these circumstances really entail but I had an "overly caring" teacher who made me and many other students feel loved, important and responsible when a lot of adults treated is like "dumb teens". Some of the things might have seemed odd to judge mental alarmists... She was also my tennis coach. Sometimes she would take in troubled kids from school and help them turn around their whole outlook on life. Our team even had a sleepover there in a school night and it was awesome. She never had creepy intentions, just a lot of love in her heart for teens who need someone to understand them and treat them like young adults. Maybe he's the same way.

Re: “KU student overcomes $1,800 bill for open records request seeking information between professor and Koch Industries

Why have most of the other posters made this a conservative vs. liberal rant? Citizens ought to have access to public records for a reasonable fee. The information uncovered could potentially negatively affect liberals, conservatives, moderates, whoever. The real point is that we do indeed have a right to know. If you don't believe that then buy some real estate in North Korea.

Re: “Smithville High School principal to student: 'There is nothing I don't love about you'

From the social media battle cry of the students, I am beginning to think something stinks about this matter. Reading the allegations in black and white...lines have been crossed. His behavior may not have been PC...however, students tend to know when something weird is going on, even when its only ONE incident. I don't think we have all of the truth. But hey, judge on, something we shouldn't do before the facts. that society can't get enough of...

Re: “KU student overcomes $1,800 bill for open records request seeking information between professor and Koch Industries

I honestly cannot tell if you are trolling with that George Soros comment or if you are serious. If you read the LJWorld Journal article then it appears that, "Members of the Kansas chapter of the American Association of University Professors agreed with Kraus and donated $1,000 to her group's effort." I mean, I guess Soros could have donated the other $800... Also, it isn't the fact that the Kochs are wealthy. I mean, Bill Gates is the richest dude on the planet and he spends a lot of his money trying to eradicate Polio and reform education standards. Elon Musk is worth something like 11 billion dollars and he is something of a libertarian (though he has accepted government subsidies for Tesla) and a lot of liberals don't pay much attention to his personal politics because of what he chooses to do with his money (green energy, space exploration, making their Tesla battery open to other competitors in the automotive industry). The Kochs, on the other hand, get a lot of press for pushing back on climate change legislation, sending out misinformation about the Affordable Health Care Act, and throwing money towards PACs for anti-regulation politicians. Its not that they are wealthy. It's what they do with their wealth.

Cell phone, a car, insurance, inappropriate texts, and rides? Doesn't matter his intent, he was wrong and knows it. He develops and enforces school policy and is held to a high standard because of his position.

Re: “Greg Orman is really rich

It would be nice if Orman released a resume of his business career with dates.

I'd like to know more about Orman's involvement with the Bracknell Corporation in Canada. According to public documents, the company Orman founded, Nationwide Electric, became the duly authorized representative of Bracknell Corporation in the U.S. (in Minneapolis) on 11/21/2000. What year did Orman start Nationwide on its own before that?

"Bracknell," located in Minneapolis, reported a loss of $267 million in 2001. All its officers and directors resigned as of 11/1/01. What kind of compensations and salaries did they receive before the company went bust? Wasn't Orman the top executive at Bracknell, renamed Nationwide, at this time? What happened to all the millions of dollars that were lost?

Does Orman still own Nationwide Electric? Have there ever been any legal actions against Nationwide Electric when he owned it? When Orman owned it, had it ever been served a "notice of deficiency" by any Canadian teachers pension funds that were investors?

Why did Nationwide Electric earlier abruptly cancel its IPO in 1998?

When did Orman start up KLT? This is a "private" offshoot of KCP&L, right? According to a KLT corporate report, "In 1999, KLT Energy Services sold all of the stock it held in Nationwide Electric, Inc., resulting in a gain of $19.8 million. Also in 1999, because Telemetry Solutions' subsidiaries were unable to bring their products to market, KLT Telecom decided to cease funding Telemetry Solutions and wrote off its investment." So Orman's company KLT bought Orman's Nationwide Electric stock and then sold it?

If one wants to be a U.S. Senator, citizens will want to examine the candidate's past business dealings and "open the hood and kick the tires," as they say.
