I've got two kids. I don't mind taking them to fast food places, but sit-down restaurants that you have to wait forever to get food and then the check makes it a nightmare for kids and parents and people who don't have kids that are next to your table. Sure, there is a fair amount of "practice" that kids need, but there are plenty of other places to go.
When I was a kid, I had some friends that had parents that never took them anywhere and they acted like idiots in restaurants. My parents refused to take them out after the first couple of instances. So yes, I understand. No one is saying "your kid sucks", they are just saying that most kids suck and it would be cool if you don't bring them here.

I have never really encountered bad child behavior at a restaurant or on an airplane but i've experienced plenty of loud talkers where you can hear entire conversations. Also encountered plenty of stupid drunks, annoying laughter, and groups of cackling women at restaurants and on airplanes.
You don't hear outrage or banishment for these kind of people.
I think this kind of problem is a good thing because I think it increases the chances for more restaurants to do take out. Take out didn't really exist at most restaurants 20 years ago, now all kinds of restaurants offer takeout. Not sure if takeout sushi is good in 100 degree weather though
