Re: “Hot Club of Cowtown singer and violinist — and KC native — Elana James on her band's latest, Rendezvous in Rhythm

@William

Delta blues? ...no. Pokey Lafarge mostly plays western swing, with elements of hot jazz and blues, and is infatuated with Steinbeck. I thought it was analagous to this interview because Elana said that "Our music basically sounds like if you were out driving in Texas during the late 1930s" which would be right in LaFarge's wheelhouse. His band also dresses up in the style of that time period

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

Well I will just buy the property and put a small friendly neighborhood Drive In Theater there.

Re: “The Grisly Hand returns with Country Singles

I saw em open for Black Oak Arkansas at the Riot Room last summer. Both bands were great.

Re: “Friends of KCI take another crack at stalling new KCI terminal

KCI is the nation's most boring airport, and the continuing decline in the number of flights is the result. Eventually it'll be like the stores in the old USSR -- great prices but no goods on the shelves. At KCI it will be great access to gates but no flights to anywhere but Dallas and Denver (oh, and also to Memphis, for crying out loud, whose airport is making KCI look like a small-town puddle jumper).

Who uses the stupid term 'methinks'? I guess I might see you there. You'll be at the bar 'methinks me wants another Blue Moon. Melikes them.

Re: “Mapping your favorite sandwiches

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this article was Mario's in Westport. I used to eat one of their meatball or Italian sausage grinders just about every week when I lived close by. mmmmm

Hi Charlie...can you please define chemical for me? I'm sure you're ingesting a lot of "chemicals" everyday, I can't seem to think of anything edible that's NOT one

Orphan: Teresa's, as much as I love it, is too far east to be considered the urban core.

Re: “The Humdinger: Stand in line to get in, baby

Ive been eating at Humdingers since 1975 ( i was 14). I dont go there now as much as i used to, but once every few months i will stop in for the Italian Steak Sandwich despite the inevitable heartburn i will have to endure the following night!! Harold's makes a mean burger as well, and has to be one of the cleanest mom and pop joints ive ever seen.

Re: “Carb stomping through a month of KC's tastiest two-handers

Here's one you or Charles need to check out:
La Hamburguesa Loca, 3009 Independence Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124
https://www.facebook.com/LaHamburguesaLoca

Everything we've had there has been good to excellent. First time I've ever had a burger with a slice of ham on it. I was a little skeptical, but it tasted really good. We try to eat there once a week.

Re: “Friends of KCI take another crack at stalling new KCI terminal

IF MCI AIRPORT ISN'T BROKEN DON'T SPEND 1.5 BILLION TO FIX NOT SH-T...

A GREAT IDEA WOULD BE TO SPEND HALF OF THAT 1.5 BILLION ON KANSAS CITY MISSOURI RAGGED ASS SCHOOL DISTRICT as well as its DILAPIDATED PLAYING FIELDS & GYMS.
