Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

I think you people should read the entire article. You obviously have a family or financial relationship with the developer. Perhaps you work for Parris communications...the developers public relations firm. It speaks volumes when a developer has to hire a PR firm to post on the internet. The article speaks to several controversial issues on both sides. Perhaps the developer is anti- neighborhood or anti- youth. THis Nimby term is straight out of the PR playbook. Prairie Village is already over-bedden for retirement centers compared to the rest of Johnson County 2:1. The "Y" generation ,ages 17-34, is coming -at 86 million people- bigger than the boomers (80 million). If Prairie Village continues to build retirement centers and close schools the coming generation of children will be headed to Blue Valley and Olathe. Why not build a residential developement for families and children. If one buys the land before it is rezoned or contingent on a Special Use Permit shouldn't he expect a divergence of opinion? The surrounding neighbors property rights are just as important as the developers.

Re: “Lutfi's Fried Fish is cookin' on 63rd Street

My grandma used to make wonderful cornmeal-breaded catfish (fresh from the lake right out back) and fried okra. Just reading about this place's menu makes me miss her----fried okra just tastes like love to me. I can't wait to go; I can't imagine that I'll be disappointed.

Re: “Double draggin' into two places, each trying to do two cuisines

I heard the review of Jasmine Thai last Friday night on the Food Critics on KCUR. I excitedly took my family there that very night hoping for some great food. Ugh. It was the worst thai/chinese food (we had a little of both) that we have had in this city (and that is not saying much).

Re: “Swagger has closed its Martin City location

Sounds like the service was just as bad in Martin City as it is in Waldo. Hopefully management will focus their attention on the remaining location, cut the dead weight and hire a competent staff. We took 6 friends to the Waldo location last year and it was such a miserable and embarrassing experience, we haven't been back.

Re: “Swagger has closed its Martin City location

Good Riddance. I only went there one time, MCBC was jam-packed full. Swagger's service was terrible. The food we got was o.k. But, the order messed-up. We tried to order 4 different beers, before we got to one that they actually had.

Re: “Thirsty Ernie's

Tell me WHY we have the immature tall blonde, Lindsey chasing and screaming at her boyfriend throughout entire bar and out on patio?. Last 2 times Ive been there she is overly spoken on she doesnt know where the "f" he is. Yelling across the bar at the girls on her demands and letting them fully aware SHE IS IN CHARGE TONIGHT. Is she in charge? If thats the case, WOW! You guys need a little help in hiring. Her professionalism needs a crash course. So much back and forth between her and i think his name is Chuck. Its like cat and mouse chase with them two.

I was there last Thursday when I heard the short dark headed bar tender with glasses there let a group of maybe 8 people tell a guy at the door she wasnt able to serve because they were closing....understandably it was bad out and we were leaving. However, she told a handful of girls across the bar know they are not drinking enough to keep the bar open and paying her salary. I was sitting at the bar and overheard and saw this.. The girls were angry and came back in. Dont know what all was said but overheard some when they came back out. Felt bad for the 2 that were working with the bar tender girl as they seemed to wanna correct the concerns. Felt like the bar tender could of handled things better but didn't.

Re: “Thirsty Ernie's

On normal circumstances I love coming to Thirsty Ernie's. Last weekend.... not good at all. They have 3 servers that are AMAZING....when they are working they keep that bar going. I noticed only one was there ..Chantel which was not herself. She was rude and short with everyone. Not sure if she was upset about something but not her norm. The other two I L-O-V-E...... and make sure I find them when I first walk in to be seated... mel and Evette. Both were not working this past weekend....???????? For the sake of Ernie's only good help left I hope for your own good that these 2 still work for you. Place is a disappointment without them and the quality of service and personality of Chantel and the other 2 who were WORTHLESS and all three are too heavy to be wearing what they do. Proven by only 6 people in your bar Saturday. Friday maybe 12. We usually come in a larger group and our group LOVES evette ,mellisa and chantel The 3 are a true power house and they ROCK. Keep doing what your doing girls.... Your the reason we continue to come in WEEKLY. your customers do notice these things.. Hope you as management understnad that one. God knows these girls keep your bar open. I hope this weekend isnt like last. I hope my girls are there!!! WE MISSED YOU!!!!! we left and went to F & J's..... Sorry Ernie just wasn't worth being there.

Re: “The Tutera Group isn't getting much resistance to its plan to wall off a chunk of Prairie Village for the Medicare set

I agree about the Atriums and Lucille. We have a family member there, and it has been a life-saver.

With the aging populations, it's a simple fact that we do need more facilities for the elderly, especially for those with medical needs and dementia that the rest of the person's family just isn't equipped to deal with. Getting all NIMBY about these facilities seems pretty short-sighted and selfish.

I concur with son - Lucille is a saint. My grandmother in law lives in the Atriums, and anytime there has been an issue she has bent over backwards to make it right.
