I have been coming here for 20'ish years w/ fam and friends alike. I never have high expectations for service however I always know the food will be delicious! Last but certainly not least, their cheese dip is priced like gold and worth every penny! The BEST ever.
This place is horrible, the bar tender is a complete A** and the Waitresses are slu*s!
First off, it must be noted that both the previous review as well as the restaurant description are a bit dated. Not only is James Landis the current head chef (who, I've discovered, has been a part of the Green Dirt Farms dinners for the last 2 years and executed delicious perfection to a sold out table on both occasions), but his keen eye in comparison to the previous chef would not tolerate inconsistencies in food service or presentation. Blue Grotto is hands down my favorite pizza place in Kansas City and the exhibition kitchen showcases the care they put into all of their food along with the absence of frozen or pre-packaged ingredients. After chatting with the bartender, I was informed everything is made and assembled in house including ingredients for their signature cocktails (try the Spring Basil martini for a slightly sweet herbal refreshment). I brought a group of friends here for a special dinner a while back and we requested to go off-menu for our meal. Sometimes I don't always make the most thoughtful decisions but let me just say that was the best menu choice I've made as we enjoyed a 9-course menu with 5 short courses followed by their artisan pizzas, a lemon sorbet palate cleanser, an autumn-inspired poached pear dessert, and house-made truffles to top it all off. Because of our request, we had the privilege of sitting at what they call the "Godfather Table," which provides a bird's eye view of the whole restaurant. Here's the bottom line: the ambiance of this cozy neighborhood pizza and wine bar, with its wooden patio and cushioned benches huddled around stone fire pits, adds a soul-enriching vibe in addition to sating one's palate for fresh handmade pizza and delectable antipastas, small plates, and of course dessert. Grab a beautiful glass of deep red wine and enjoy the upcoming patio weather.

Overall: Just guess ;)
Chad Waldrop is a dishonest business owner. Do not support this deadbeat's clubs. He's a liar and a cheat.
Agreed, boycott any bar or club this guy is involved with. Total scuzball.
Chad Waldrop is a loser that nevers pays his bills. He has been beat up several times for this and is about to be again.
The gyros are wonderful. Not too pricey. Carry out service is good.
Love the bartender that works on mondays named ally she has a personality that lights up a room
I would have been concerned that The Pitch erroneously advertised CollapseFest as being at Knuckleheads and not at Aftershock, but I remembered nobody reads The Pitch anymore...
i always have a good time at dannys. its cheap to drink, they have great homemade food(not your typical bar food) and i ve seen a lot of good shows there. not sure when that last bit was written but ive seen just about every genre of music there- from country to indie to metal to bluegrass and it always sounds good there-theyve got a bangin' p.a.!! my girlfriend likes to hang out in the back pool room cause you can still hear the band but its not as loud and it leads out to the smoking patio(which i am a nonsmoker unless its green!)
really the only place to hear live music that isnt some shitty cover band in a shitty shithole bar;
Take Five Coffee + Bar is a great place to relax and enjoy a coffee, tea or other spirits. They also serve sandwiches and baked goods - all of it good. Lori and Doug are your hosts and strive to make everyone feel at home. Many nights they have live music, mostly jazz, but Lori brings in other genres to round it out. My wife and I really enjoy spending time here.
Place to drink and watch the " Glory days " former East/ Jayhawk wanna - be' binge. Food unpredictable, surly wait staff more concerned with clearing out the tab and getting on. Could ah, would ah - with the right staff. Dark, silly but a place to go when desperate for an overpriced beer.
The best craft beer selection in the Northland combined with great food and fun bartenders. There's nothing more that I could ask for.
Fantastic Restaurant! A mix of class and great barbecue. Visited the Zona Rosa location for a business luncheon and it was a top notch place to meet. Great food and great service.. I see they were also voted Best Barbecue in the Kansas City Northland again. Great Job guys!
I luv the burgers, fries, drinks and the vibe at this spot!
Overall, its a nice break from the other establishments on Mass. St. One of my favorites!
One word: YUMMMM!!!
This goes for the beer and food!
Nothing but good vibes for Free State!
wow, another 'Edge' concept gone bust... wth??
They give you two kinds of salsa to graze on - both very good. I recommend the queso flamedo for an appetizer. This place is good.
