Decent sushi? Kokoro Maki is the best most affordable sushi in the stretch from Waldo to downtown. My personal opinion.

I loved this show, thanks for writing about it!
Hi Charles! Delighted Kokoro is getting the shout out it deserves. But I miscounted — there's also Korea House at 888 Market. It's really just a lunch stand in the very large Asian supermarket but their food (especially stews) is solid and they make their own kimchi and banchan, which they also sell.
Copeland's.
Baliff, whack their peepees!
Excelsior Springs is so pround of Courtney's accomplishments
Rudy's Chicken
My experiences there have been nothing but good. The food was good. The beer was reasonably priced and fresh. The servers were friendly, if a bit undertrained. And I enjoyed playing in the monthly Irish sessions when I could. It also became a favorite place for my fencing club to hang out after practice. I'll miss it.
"But Ford says the concession argument is dead on arrival for local travelers, who typically migrate beyond security before they have a need for nice restaurants and bars." I think Ford is missing the point. Local travelers 'migrate beyond security' not because they just love the options on the other side, or even prefer them. They do it because they don't want to risk being stuck on the wrong side of security, fighting a long line when their plane is boarding (or worse, departing).
No matter how you try to spin it, the layout at KCI stinks. A new, single-terminal airport would be outrageously expensive, but so are repairs, maintenance, and work-arounds at the existing airport. It seems like it would be six of one, half dozen of the other in the long run, or even the not so long run. Why not move towards getting rid of an annoying, clunky design in the process? Sure, from the outside, KCI looks great on paper - beautiful curved lines, a theoretically sleek flow from one terminal to the next - but it doesn't work.
AGREE on the NBA team! I think KC could definitely support an NBA team and now we have a great venue. Kansas City Kings, anyone?
Also, mucho support for Courtney. I met her at UCMO when she was running for office and she is awesome - passionate, optimistic, nice - the kind of person you want to have advocating for your rights.
I love your sense of humor, Courtney!
Wahoo's, In-n-Out
Bring White Castle home; it was founded in Kansas. Any of the restaurants that will serve a Big Boy Hamburger
Dewey's Pizza (in Ohio and St. Louis), crust is doughy and light, toppings are amazing, chefs put on a show for kids behind plexiglass
Pappadeaux, Whataburger, Raising Cane's, Krystals
Portillos, Goodtimes burgers from Denver, Maggianos,
Chovy's Italian from Meadville, PA!
Is there going to be a parade?
Re: “Does the city need a new, billion-dollar Kansas City International?”
JustMyWords hit it dead on the head. I'd love to hang out at the concessions prior to the gate but I won't because the expense and the risk of missing my flight is greater if I'm on that side of the glass. It's just not worth it.
